The same thing nearly happened to me last month. I was making a left turn and began accelerating to about 30 and lost rear traction, spun 180 and ended up on the sidewalk. I luckily didn't hit anything but a Chevrolet dealers sign with the drivers side of my stang. The insurance totaled my car. I luckily saved all the parts that I modded and they let me replace them and get my stuff off the car before I let them have it. My son also saved the window sticker showing all the options in a scrap book and I was able to fax it to my insurance claim agent. They cut me a check for a little over $32k for my 05 GT convertible. Thankfully it held its value very well. I was able to go out and replace it with a loaded 07 GT/CS Coupe and still have $2k left over! Good luck.

I've always been curious and now is a perfect time to ask. Does TCS for the Pony Package mean that is also has T-Lok? Or is it just TCS for a single wheel like the Lincoln Mark VIII?

The All-Speed Traction Control uses the ABS computer and sensors to monitor wheel slip at any speed. It will apply braking at one or both rear wheels.

Learning to Fly a Terraplane called a Mach 1...
After all the other posts, I wanted to put in my two cents...
Here is how a 17 yr old learns to drive a Mach 1 in the winter (first pic)
and in heavy rain (second) pic...
Can you guess the idenity of the driver?
Now at 44, I feel trained to handle my '06 GT...

It always suprises me, with most topics here, %99.9 of the features/issues are in the owners hand book. I DONT WANT TO FLAME ANYONE !! !! !! but it still makes me wonder why did FORD put in an owners hand book, when most people dont even read it???? I'll get off me soap box now, and sorry to hi-jack the thread.

Boy those cars from the 70's knew how to take a collosion, didn't they? I used to love my steel beasts from the 70's, had a '77 Lincoln town car, crashed that 3-ton baby once into a tree head-on by being sucked into a snow-filled gutter, drove away; second time crashed head-on into some guy in a subaru who lost control coming up a hill towards me when he entered my single lane road head-on. Fortunately on that one everyone was pretty much ok, drove the car home both times. Had a '76 Nova that I never crashed in though, hmm. Anyway, once the tail goes out from behind you it can be pretty unpredictable what will happen next, even with a lot of experience and some training, accidents are a statistical probability at that point. The best news is when nobody gets seriously injured and as many have said they are still just "objects" when you come down to it. Getting mad about it even towards yourself for letting it happen is only natural, but you live and you learn and with some luck life will go on.

Kudos for having the integrity to own up to your mistake, and recognize it as a learning experience. Surprising how rare that is these days. Seems like most people automatically try to find someone else to blame for their problems. Your attitude is refreshing and actually gives me hope that there are still honest people out there willing to do the right thing even it if it means admiting fault. Good luck.

Again thanks guys, I really appreciate the concern and the complements. I like to be as level headed as as I can, being young is no fun if your too stupid to enjoy it. I still have not heard from the insurance company as to how much they will give me, in the mean time I am prying for enough to get another and planning what to do for mods. I am thinking Vista Blue (naturally) with 11' stripes 2 inch gap (or skunk stripe with two pinstripes) and a 07 GT/CS (without GT/CS badging) style side stripe, though I need to know if the pony fender badges will mess up the line up for the side stripe, I would be putting it right where Ford puts 07 GT/CS stripe. Do you think I could find a way to do the side stripe and incorporate the badge? Also thinking 07 Shelby ducktail if the new V6 spoiler is not to my liking. So what do you think about the ideas? I hate to change the topic but I am so bummed I need to think about something positive. I may get some pics from the the damage claim and will post if I get them.

...what interests me is that she hit him at "35-40mph" after he sat in oncoming traffic lane for several seconds.
This shows:
a)either he is exaggerating the amount of time expended between spinning out and getting hit, or
b)she not only didn't avoid the accident, but DIDNT EVEN TRY TO BRAKE.
If the poster truly was going 30mph when he spun out, how the living hell does a woman with two dogs on her lap drive an Oldsmobile around that same corner at 40mph??? What was the speed limit here (in dry/clear conditions)?
