Here is my Torch Red GT Convertible at pickup in early Jun, Bremenhaven, GE. Now have 1500+ miles on it and no real problems other that it likes ESSO gas stations real well!

How is the top-down wind buffeting at various driving speeds up to 70 MPH?

I am getting all my cleaning products together so I can take care of it right from the beginning. Can someone tell me if the top is fabric or vinyl? :scratch:

Jack, the tops are vinyl - as is most of our "leather" seats!

Anyone know what I should use on the top to keep it from fading? I have to park in the sun for 9+ hours every day when I am at work.

I know ford recommends Motorcraft products but is there anything better out there?

Thanks for the compliments, I would rather have the Bullitts myself, but the car was already ordered and serialized, so I had to get the upgrade wheels. AFS has a set of black chrome Bullits that look interesting.

Fairly comfortable at 70 mph, you can actually hold a conversation and listen to the radio. It is way better than the 99 GT Convertible I had before.

Cleaning products of choice so far:
Mr Clean wash system - I like it and it does work pretty well on a waxed car. Seems to be pretty good at breaking up dried on bugs too.

Mother's clay bar and detailer kit

NXT liquid wax - shines up gorgeous and shine is really deep. Seems to keep the bugs from getting a good hold on the front bumper too.

NXT spray detailer - we live in the country and this stuff is great for wiping off bugs and fingerprint smudges and dribbles from the washer nozzles. I use a clean microfiber towel and light pressure.

California car duster - I was skeptical, but it really dos work without scratching. Good for pollen and dust in the gararge.

My wife is always ragging on me because the very first GT we saw was black and red, and I stated to the dealer that "black is not an option!" After wavering and having two seperate orders get cancelled, I ended up with a black car anyway. It was always the upkeep that scared me away from black. It sure is pretty and get's lots of looks and compliments. Up in Door County this weekend, I had people stop and stare at it, including someone driving a Mercedes convertible.

Up to 120 wind is not an issue in the front. In the back it gets hard to hear over 50 but buffeting doesn't get bad until 70-80. In fact my 2 year old son fell asleep in the back cruising at 65 on the freeway.

If you want the "best", buy a good cover from KC and use it every day. Not only will it protect your top, it will also protect the rest of your car from all kinds of bad things that can happen. I do it every day and it is worth the extra 2 minutes it takes. Trust me.

They are off while the headrest covers are being embroidered. The foam headrests look horrible, so I took them off for the picture.
