Weird thing happened today...
I was doing some burnouts with the traction control off and I ended up doing a sort-of 360 and then my brakes kind of locked up on me and threw me to the side of the road and the engine shut off. I went to start it twice and it wouldn't kick. Finally, the 3rd time, it kicked on and I didn't have a problem after that.
I was scared straight after that and this car has more power than I ever thought. I will never act that crazy with cars again. Thank god the strip of back road I was on was empty because I would have seriously regretted hitting someone else and/or wrecking my car.
Long story short...could I have damaged the car after doing this? I figure the reason this happens is because too much gas was being sucked in possibly? If I can describe what happened - it was like the beginning of The Fast and the Furious where Paul Walker loses control of the car - except I have an auto.

Was your gas level near empty? I don't know with newer cars but I've heard of people doing do-nuts and the gas sloshing to one side killing the motor.
I hope it's ok, I've flogged mine more than a few times...buying tires sucks but you gotta wring her out ever so often.

It could be that if you were low on gas and you use alot of power quickly, your stang calculates your miles to empty. If you gas is too low when this happens the car can actually kill the engine because of this. I actually pulled a few doughnuts this weekend and it was the first time in this car right? Well before i started it had about 200 miles to E. After the second one, it showed that i had 12 to E. So i get all scared thinking I damaged something or that I might have a gas leak and start heading to the gas station. By the time I got there i was back to about 190 to E. Very scary for the first time. The computer had calculated that If I kept using gas at that rate thats how long before I ran out of gas. So maybe if I had 200 to e and then after 2 360's it was a 12....well lets just say you were at 50 to e and then did it the car could have registered empty or something like that....thad be my guess.

hmmm weird, because I had a full tank of gas, but I am thinking too much air got sucked in...i know this has happened alot to my brothers camaro

hmm maybe im not really sure about it. I mean it could have been other things to...something overheating, some kind of freak mishap with the computer i dunno. That does sound logical though. I dont think ill be doing those anymore etheir.

I can almost guarantee that all of you are incorrect as to why the engine stalled. When the car flips around backwards, if it rolls backwards while in "Drive", it will stall the engine. We did it all the time in police driving training, although that was all done on purpose.
We would throw the car into a spin and learned how to recover from it. If it went around 180 degrees, the car was then rolling backwards and the engine would stall every time.
As far as the car cutting off fuel because it thinks it is low, that is not going to happen. The "miles until empty" and fuel gauge readings have nothing to do with keeping the car running. I (and probably many others here) have run the car down to 0 miles to empty several times. Once I drove 10-12 miles past 0 before fueling up.

HAH...
I was leaving my brothers job and he was like burn out for my buddy here...he wants to see a Stang in action. When I was leaving the parking lot I did a single 360 and figured that I had the car under control...I exited his parking lot and well...I decided what the hell...let me burn out on a turn...WRONG! never again. HAHAH
