The plastic is what i'm mainly talking about. The carpet as well.
Agreed, the interior is in desperate need of both better plastics and switchgear with a feeling of quality to it. Ford should be embarassed to use some of those materials in any car.

I doubt it will be offered on the GT unless the performance is increased substancially.
How do you figure? Even Miatas have 6 speeds, and they aren't exactly putting the power down. Pretty much all the competition has 6 speeds (Zs/G35s, RX-8s, STIs, Eclipse GTs, etc.), so why not the Mustang?

The number of gears has nothing to do with engine output --- rather keeping the engine in it's powerband, and/or a taller cruising gear for better fwy gas milage.

The only downside might be weight (of which the Mustang sure has enough of already).

I just wish Ford would stop penny piching and build quality cars (and that first and foremost begins with better interior quality!). I can't imagine a couple thousand dollars hurting sales more then the cheap nature and image of the car.

Typical U.S. Automaker mentality though -- and that is a pity.

I too am a bit disappointed that Ford didn't go with the 6 speed, but I think saying that the mustang's image and nature are cheap may be going a bit far. I've been very impressed with the quality of my car.
