I have been Gleening Parts Info Looking for Verification that The 6 Speed Stick will be Used in Upcoming Models besides the Shelby and Low and Behold. There are Listings for a 6 Speed that should have been Released in Aug 05.on 06 Models. You Really have to dig but I found it in more than one spot. Bummer! Would have been Nice. I will post when I can find some further info on this LOST option.

I assume that would be for the GT model and not the V6. Too bad they didn't release a 6 speed from the beginning.

When will we find out if it makes it into the 07? My 06 is on order now, but not serialized yet. I'd actually wait for the 07 if it was confirmed to have the 6 speed. I know other options such as tire preasure monitoring and heated seats have been talked about for 07, but I haven't seen anythign confirmed yet.

It is notchy for the amateurs but I'll grant you it is stiff, which I happen to like. I think it is a good combination with the heavy clutch. It makes it for a more precise shifting specially at high RPMS, IMO.

I doubt it will be offered on the GT unless the performance is increased substancially.

It's a second overdrive and allows the lower gears to be more closely spaced. It may hurt 0-60 performance though if you are forced to go for second before 60. I'm guessing the current 5 speed can hit 60 in second gear. My 98 Formula had the 6 speed and I would have to hit 4th before the end of the quarter mile which adds a tenth or so onto the time. More gear changes equal more shifts, but more gears help to keep the motor on boil for longer.

well, the T-56 that is in the Cobra had the same gear ratios as the T-48... it's just a 2nd over drive.. the 5th gear is .80:1? and the 6th gear is .62:1? I think.... but I have yet to see one that made the first 4 gears a closer ratio. Same thing went for the F-bodies with the T-56. Can't speak for the Viper, though. I'd assume that since that bad boy has so much hp/torque.... who needs closer ratios?
Now, I could see the 7 speed that's in the BMW M6 have closer ratios in gears 1-5, and again, having 2 ODs... but in a 6 speed where the 6th gear is a 2nd OD... a very large one, I might add, you have to be going about 75 to keep the engine from bogging in the 2nd OD.. there's really no economical reason to tighten the ratios. It'll kill your fuel economy everywhere except open road cruising.

However... I have every intention of putting a 6 speed in some time after I get mine in a couple of months. I just have to figure out how to turn doodie into money... 'cause that's the only thing fallin' outta my behind.

The Six Speed will be Virtually Identical to the Previous Six Speed. It uses 2003 Prior Part Numbers on most components .As More Info is released I will Post. I believe the Version Packages will use the Six Speed such as The GT/CS, Mach Bullit Etc. Then Again it may not be used until The 4v 4.6 is Released in 08.
