Water collecting on Throttle Body - Is this normal?

So I washed the stang tonight, dried it off, took it for a quick spin around the block, then pulled it back into the driveway and opened the hood. I noticed a puddle of water that had collected in this area where the intake connects to the throttle body.

I had noticed a bit of white powder there before, but had not made the connection to water. I was litterly full of water before I blew it out and took these pics. BTW, I did NOT spray water on the engine when I was washing the car.

Does anyone elses do this, and should I be concerned? I have an CAI kit on order and if this requires Ford work I want to know before I install the CAI.

Advice and comments please!

Did you check to see if your washer nozzles/ connections are blocked or leaking and water is running down blanket and exiting blanket holes directly above TB ? Just a thought.

Now that we agree its a common occurance and have no idea how it gets there (hood scoop bolts?), how is the best way to clean it? I'd like to clean it with a toothbrush or something and then protect it. What can I put on it that would put a protective layer on the metal? Something like 303 does for vinyl. Any ideas?

If you dont want to see it, you can custom fabricate up a bracket. A good friend of mine made a bracket that went in front of the cover, and put a classic 427 logo on top of the bracket, it looks pretty awesome. I wish I had a picture.
