Delete plate Question

OK I just won a stock set of Delete plates and a stock fuel rail on ebay for a buck and a quater. Can I take out the butterflies out of the plates??
Don't know weather I want to install these (if I can gut them out) or sell them. What are the pros and cons for having they install???

Is it true that gutted delete plates will hurt your lower end and give you a better higher end about 10 hp? This is what Brenspeeds website says.

I read one guy that drilled out the butterfly valves out from the CMCV's and plugged the holes from them, sounds like a PITA though.

btw, you didn't win any delete plates, just OEM CMCV plates.

Why would delete plates hurt your lower end though?

Removing the butterflies (or installing the delete plates) allows the air to flow in better with no blockage, but at lower rpm that means the air is traveling slower through the larger opening. That is what takes away some torque. The stock butterflies are there to cause the air to speed up at the lower RPM's by closing the pathway a bit, creating more torque. At higher RPM the air is able to flow better with no blockage, thus allowing the engine to create more power.

I've noticed it on my car, not really that the tires don't spin as much, but that after about 3K the car really picks up and moves, it's not quite as linear as it was before.

But I love it, and won't change back.

I did not feel any low end loss whatsoever.... All I felt was more power in the top end but no loss... maybe its just my car though

Do you notice any issues with taking it in for service? Does ford give you a hard time w/ the new Delete plates?

There is a huge difference btwn all the Ford places. Some get really POed if your car is modded, some dont care and they admire it. Kinda weird.
