Hey I had the same problem when I bought the car....they had to change a sensor on it. They told me it was letting to much gas into the engine. It took them a week to get the part, but it was a very quick fix and the light has been off ever since.[/quote]
What was the part?

I'm relieved to see that others are also having this same problem too. My light just came on after turning over 200 miles. Took it to the dealer who promptly checked my gas cap; turned out to be tight. He said the light should go off after 45 miles or so, if not bring it back. It didn't, so I have an appointment with service tomorrow morning..
OK. That's just not right.
ANY mechanic knows it won't just reset itself. I wouldn't trust those guys.

Sounds like an Oxygen Sensor. Ah, the joys of dealing with those. I was using ma and pa gas for forever, and suddenly the light comes on in my wife's Volvo. Long story short, the guys at the garage suggested that I switch to the name brand stuff, which I did, and I haven't seen the light since.

Wow, now there's two more things I can add to my list. I let my car run the last two times I filled it up, and I've been using ethanol everytime I fill. I wonder if it's any of those. And about the question of why I kept driving after 875, it did come on after the service department was closed for the weekend and plus I read through the owner's manual and saw that it was probably nothing too serious. I hope they can figure it out tomorrow, that stupid light drives me crazy! Thanks guys. B)

I unfortunately can't get around ethanol around here, but like I said, the big name brands (like Texaco and Philips) seem to have a better mixture or something, as opposed to the smaller shops (and even Costco, crazy enough).

Well, just got back from the dealership this morning and this is what they told me:

The code check revealed that the ECU had detected a misfire in the 'B' and 'D' coil packs under deceleration. After consulting with Ford engineering, the tech concluded that there aren't any actual problems and says that Ford is aware of the issue. Ford says they have a new flash program in the works to fix this issue.

Yes, the putrid smell is that of a recall on the horizon The tech told me that he has heard of a several instances of false codes from his peers. He himself has witnessed two so far locally (mine included). This dealer has only sold 4 GTs (one of which hasn't been driven because it's being held for a soldier who's in Iraq), so two out of the four have already come back for the warning light.

I had the same problem on Saturday. The dealer told me this morning that I had a vent clogged on the gas tank. Ford recommended that the dealer replace the gas tank. They are hoping the tank will come in tomorrow.

By the way I only have about 280 miles on mine.

Uh oh.
Maybe it's a good thing that I haven't even gotten a VIN yet.

Actually, the light did go out this morning when I started up (cold start) and headed to the dealership How ironic, huh? I called to tell them this and they suggested that I bring it in anyway.

Yes, but it's still in the computer's memory.
It wasn't reset. The condition just went away.

Ok, my fault. I thought you meant the light itself...

Speaking of codes, the tech showed me a list of other errors that was stored in the ECU aside from the ones mentioned. He offered to photocopy the list for me, but I declined. I may go back tomorrow to get it anyway just to have something on file.

Dude, my advice. Get Paperwork for EVERYTHING. I have had my 03 worked on numerous times at 4 different dealerships. Some didn't give me any papers after they completed the warranty work. So when I went to send in the buyback/trade-in application I had to go back to some & get back copies.

Also, in my 02 the light came on & all they did was reset the sensor & it was perfect. My 03's light has been on twice & both times it was the thurmastat & it was running hot. So, it could be minor or it could be major. Eitherway I wouldn't run it 125 miles after it came on the find out. Just my 2 cents. Goodluck eitherway.
