If memory serves me correctly, putting a SC, Turbo or Nitrous could impact a warrenty regardless of V6 or V8. And going either route on the cars, could "blow" both of them up regardless of the baseline unless you do your homework. Most people I have seen on this board that do go this route, research it so they are sure the car can handle it. Either way they are all great cars, and mod for mod they all fit in a certain performance spectrum. I.e.

V6
V8
GT500, Roush, Saleen, MRT, etc.

So if the guy wants a V6, then let him have it. If insurance and cost are not an issue, then the GT is a better buy, I would get one myself if I could have pulled off the xplan and gotten my insurance down.

If someone wants to keep his/her car mostly stock, then great...you are in the low risk category and you will have no warrenty issues. Just don't get pissed if you own a GT500 and some GT owner mods the car to outperform yours for far less.

Either way I think everyone agrees that they are good cars. Besides, regardless of engine, I just love seeing a mustang pound on some rice!

Why is there such strict policy of staying on topic? We have a group of avid Mustang fans having an online discussion about the merits of two Mustang versions on a Mustang forum. No one is flaming another and the original topic is still being addressed so I personally don't see why we can't continue as we have been.

That said, I placed a $500 deposit with my dealer and waited 8 weeks to the day for my GT. I would imagine that if you insist on ordering a V6, as opposed to taking one off the lot, delivery would still take just as long as ordering a GT from the same dealer. Subject to material holds and such. The V6 would probably not be subject to allocation issues too. Good luck with your order and look forward to giving you nanners after you pick yours up. You'll only be getting 6 nanners of course instead of 8.

Yep, you are right. When I went to inquire on ordering vs. getting one from the lot, the 6's were 6 weeks out and the 8's were 7-9 weeks out.

Damm I didnt mean to start a holy war between 6ers and 8ers jeez lol
but I must admit the great debate is a fun one never the less I guess I should clarify something. I'm actually almost 30 so no I'm no spring chicken (but yes I do write like a teenager  lol) but I did get into some fincamial problems when I was younger. See I thought credit cards were free money :bang: :bang: and it's only know that fixing my problem. And I must admit I was like everyone else I always told myself heck only women drive v6 stang's. I was going to get a GT no V6 for me but then I rented a 6 and I must say I was surpised at the performance of it. So to answer the question yes I love the GT it is the better of the two and if I had the money to get one I would have one (see were i live in the northern burbs of Chicago I can't find any GT's that will be out the door for under 28 which is way out of my price range ) but the 6 is just a better fit for me at the moment its in price my range and the insurance is only going to cost me 100 a month plus with a little bit extra cash I can make it quicker that a stock GT Fox Stang. So its just a money issue thats all but thanks for everyone answering my ? now that know ill put my order in a month and be driving my pony by mid Feb so thnks to everyone I'm proud to (almost) be part of family :worship: :worship:

It'll be good to have you in the herd John.

Just for the record regarding the comments that anyone test driving a GT and a V6 and picking the V6 must be crazy or something, that's exactly what I did, and haven't regretted it for a single second.

At the time I was buying, I could have had a "deluxe" GT coupe with few options, or a loaded V6 Premium convertible for the same dough. I wanted the wind in my hair more than I wanted more acceleration that would just get me in trouble sooner or later.

The 4.0 suits my needs, and I don't think that's crazy. Then again, my own driving enjoyment is my key evaluation criteria, I don't spend a lot of time worrying about whether my car has bigger gonads than the one in the next lane. As long as it's enough that I get a thrill driving it, then it's enough.

The V6 was pretty much the ideal choice at this point in my life. I don't like feeling seperated from the Mustang community because I couldn't swing a V8. I do appreciate the many open minded GT owners here that understand that having a V8 under the hood doesn't automaticaly make you a true enthusiast.
I also don't think anyone should discourage anyone to mod, even if it's a plan to heavily mod a V6. We are all Mustang freaks for the same hobby.
I'm 18 and the V8 Mustangs aren't going anywhere so I don't sweat it having a V6 at this point in my life. You guys have no idea how fortunate I am to even say I own a Mustang. It just feels good.

And THAT is a good thing...

Stangs are stangs...
And thats the reason they have different model levels for people in what they want, how they want it and why they want it....

I do hate guys who make blanket statements saying that the V6 has no place among mustangs...thats just a dumb comment.

And with these cars, be 4s, 6s or 8s... you can make anyone of them fast/handle well/attractive...
...its just SOMETIMES peoples 'dreams' are a bit skewed

Completly agreed. I've owned a couple V6 Mustangs in my life, and an 82 4 cylinder as well in High School. it was slow as heck, but I loved it.

Hey all I'm new to the forum but I've been fan of the site for awhile now. Anyways I,m starting out the process of buying my first ever Stang I'm going with a Black w/silver racing stripes 06 V6 w/Pony Package (of course) Mods I have planed are Dual Exhaust either a Magnaflow or GT take off, CAI, rear gears, even more beefer supension, and hotter plugs and plug wires. And just a couple apperances mods but anyway I do have very very very stuipd ? to ask again this is my first new car so win I place my order at the dealership I would assume that even though I wont be getting my ride for atleast 4 weeks I still have to pay for it then and not when Imactually picking it up just curious about that I'm trying to save up for a good down payment and I would like to know what kinda of time frame I'm looking at plus the dealership I'm ordering it at has a promo goin on right know free tires for as long as you own the car. So if anyone can give the info that would be cool

To answer your question, the car normally takes 6-8 weeks from the time you order until the time it is built. However, that also depends on the dealers allocation. Find out how many orders are ahead of yours. That might bump you back a few weeks. You normally only have to give a deposit when ordering the vehicle. You won't have to actually pay for the car until it arrives and you have completed the paperwork. After all, if the car arrives and you don't like the looks of it, you don't have to buy it.

This debate has gone on long enough in this thread. The original question has been answered, therefore I am closing this topic.
