Question Vert odor proof spare tire cover?

OK, not sure where to post this, so here goes. I have noticed in my vert the distinct odor of the spare tire rubber infiltrating the interior (since the trunk and interior are open to each other). It has done this since day one and it has always bugged me.

Does anyone know of a way to cover or wrap the tire to prevent this (ok, other than removing the tire ). I know some of you guys have come up with innovative solutions for other things, so let's see what you can come up with for this oddity. Thanks!

I have a vert & never noticed this, I would think it would be more of a problem with coupes cause the have fold down rear seats. Try putting the spare in a trash bag & tying it shut or pulling it out for a few days & see if the smell goes away. There is a lot of rubber weatherstripping in the vert top, maybe you are smelling that, its close to your nose.

This is definitely an unusual topic!! You would think with a 2005 car the "rubber" smell from the tire would have long since worn off. Never noticed it in my vert...

Check around for any used _____ (you know what I am talking about) you may have left in the car... maybe that is what you are smelling...

Seriously though... how do you know it is the spare?

Never noticed an odour from the Trunk on mine.

But; last year I left the old Dryer Sheets from the "Hibernation" in the Trunk.
Stacked in a corner, out of the way. the trunk smelled nice all Summer, not
over powering.
Might be a solution to your Problem.

I have had the spare out for a few days in preparation for installing a ton of Dynamat. There is a big difference in how my interior smells without it in there. All I can smell now is the wonderful smell of (what there is of it) leather. mmmm. Maybe my huge schnoz is more sensitive than most.
