v6 rattle
v6 rattle
Alright, I've been looking all over the internet to try to find a solution, and there are so many different kinds of rattles on the s197.
Anyway it's driving me crazy. I've had this rattle since I got the car. It used to rattle only in the cold at about 2500 rpm. now the car rattles there, and at idle. It only rattles at idle after it's been driven a while. It is extremely embarrassing at a drive thru.

I've read that and have no idea what it's saying. and then I found another tsb that said it was the transmission bell-housing flex plate cover. the fix was to remove the two bolts, pry it apart and put some 3m tape. So I got under my car and tried to find this flex plate, and I had no idea where or what it was. I'm new to transmissions so I tried finding a picture or a detailed explanation but couldn't find any. but once I got under the car I heard the rattle/grinding type noise in between the cats.
can anyone help me identify which problem this is? more importantly can I get a detailed description of what this stuff looks like and how to access it? I've fixed my car before, I'm not new to fixing cars, but I am new to transmissions and technical terms.
thanks.
