I'm on my way to the dealer to close a deal on a locate for the perfect car.

Redfire V6 Vert, fully loaded, shaker system, everything except the IUP.

2 Things
-------------

1) I really really want the IUP instead of the interior sports package. Is it absolutely possible for the dealer to install this as an aftermarket thing? Is that recommended? Is it the same price for the parts? Is there anything to be worried/cautious about regarding this?

2) Is there anything else with respects to a dealer locate instead of a factory order that I should be cautious / aware of?

Hopefully I can post pics of my first car real soon. Thanks for your help!

If the aftermarket thing you want is the MYcolor cluster then its a maybe before i got my 05 i asked about it and the dealer was a high rated dealership and they even said its too hard to get becuase everyone is wanting them. So hopefully your dealer can find one.

I am really just after the chrome along the dashboard. That looks really great. I really want that.

Possible as aftermarket without voiding warranty?

Hey, thanks Ed.

Thats the MyColor. So I guess there is no way to do this aftermarket? That's not a huge dela for me.

The dash kit though, will be missed. I had a look at some on ss-insert and another dashkit.com site or something similar.

It's called "Peel and Stick" hmm. So is it just a sticker I put over it all?

Seems kind of 'sketchy'.

If all you care about is the aluminum trim, that's easy enough to add later. But you won't be getting the Mycolor, the 4 gauge setup and the data readouts if you go that route.

As for working out a locate, the dealers I've talked to said trades are rarely done on Mustangs right now. Everyone sells whatever they can get their hands on, so they're not inclined to swap around. It wouldn't hurt to try, but they will probably hit you pretty hard on the price. Another option is to use FordDirect.com to try and locate what you're looking for. It's not hard to find V6 verts, so if you do some hunting you should turn one up pretty quick.

Good luck!

This may be late for you, but maybe it'll help anyway.

There have been some here who have installed the MyColor gauges aftermarket and from this thread (I just glanced over it quickly) it appears that it has full functionality even as an add on not from the factory.

Also, there are plenty of aftermarket IUP's out there although they are likely only stick ons... but I don't even know how the IUP is attached, is it just a stick on?

If you can get IUP get it. I also recommend the ICAP. I wish I would have ordered with these items added. Lot easier and cheaper than doing it afterwards. Good luck

The Canadian speedo's look so cluttered with how they put the KPH on the guage face. I'm glad the American versions only have the KPH listed in smaller numbers on the lower half of the guage. Looks cleaner.

Not to say anything can be done about it, just an observation.
