I got my 2005 on Oct. 30. Drove it for a month, then packed it away for the winter – back on the road late March

About a month ago, shifting from first to second… not all the time and not doing any sort of burnout – just punching it onto an on ramp to get up to speed quick. I get this high pitch squeal or whine, it lasts from second through overdrive and then goes away. Sometimes lasting a few minutes after dropping into fifth. I took it into the dealership – Town Ford (WNY), and brought up the TSB regarding the tranny & was told just drive it and if it is a problem it will persist and eventually happen more often.

So, do I beat the snot out of it with the hopes that the noise will go away, or eventually get worse and get fixed? Any clue what it could be?

I’ve got a predator on order, and am not going to do much else until this problem shakes itself out.

Mine does the same thing, pretty mildly, in second and third. I think it is just function of a new transmission. My '98 did it too for awhile but it eventually went away. I don't think it is a big deal.

Mine did that and yes, the dealer replaced a reverse gear syncro and some internal valve under the TSB. The tranny has been quiet ever since!

Yes sounds like your description is straight from the tsb, take it to dealer and bring a copy of tsb.

Mike,
The local dealors here dont seem to up on the TSB's either that or thy dont want to fix stuff. I got mine at West Herr and have had some issues with them as well.
My tranny is fine until I get it into 5th then it gets really loud.
I've also had to point out the TSB for the shaker radio to get that fixed.

Nice to know someone else from WNY is on these boards.
