insurance
I am getting a 2005 Mustang V6 and I went to my insurance agent today and they gave me a premium of $239.50 a month. I am 18 but I have a good grades discount, driver's education discount, a steer clear safe driver's discount and an accident free discount. Is this premium to high?

With being 18 on a brand new car, it may not be too far off. Is it on your own or on a parent's policy? If you are on your own, you should do a free quote on Proegrssive and Geico and see if they are anywhere close.

I work for an insurance agency, so I can tell you, alot of things factor into your quote. Of course, driving record and age play a major part. State, and car does as well.
One thing to question is: How many miles have they quoted you on? They have to calculate the miles that you will be driving annually. To work/ school. Maybe they can decrease that, .. if so, that will decrease your premium some.
BUT, one of the best ways to lower your premium is to add an older driver onto your policy. If you still live at home, you can add your parents on the policy no questions asked. This will definately reduce your premium.
Check around, sometimes your parents insurance company is not the best quote. I'm not sure if you are on their policy or not, but it doesn't hurt to check around. Most places will quote you for free.
Hope this helps.

If you are only 18, that's probably not far off. All those discounts are nice, but the truth is that at your age it's expensive to have insurance! However, you should definitely shop around! I'm 25, (thank goodness you get more discounts the older you get), I pay just over half that for my '05 Mustang and an '02 Explorer. If you can afford the new mustang and the insurance at 18, more power to you. Congrats on the new Stang!

I am on my parents policy but I think I am the primary driver on the car.
BTW I live in Oklahoma

If you are on their policy, just make sure that they are also listed on YOUR vehicle. Even though you are the primary driver, it still helps to have them rated on your car.
Definately ask about this... its only right anyhow, because who is to say that something happen to you and your parents would have to drive your car home for you? It happens!! Just check it out. The insurance co should have added them to begin with, but if not, then you can save some money for sure.[/color]

I have a policy with Century 21 and it's 260 a month for my 05 GT and my wife's 91 Celica.

There's nothing that helps your insurance rate as much as age
I'm 43, my V6 vert is running me 493.68/ 6 months for full-on coverage. The quote on a GT vert was 536.68/ 6 months. Probably would be cheaper if my wife hadn't just done a number on her mini van a couple of months ago
