Looking to get some new tires soon, and while I am still out on which ones exactly I'll be getting, I have pretty much decided on the size. I'm looking at getting 255/45-18.

Will these fit on the standard width wheel, which I believe to be 8"?

Will these look ok on a fanblade wheel? Will it bulge out too much?

If anyone has any pics of a tire this size on an 8" rim that would be great too. Thanks.

Yep, no problem a 255/45R18 is a nice upgrade over the narrow stock rubber. Not to mention access to a wide variety of decent rubber in that size. I'd recommend a good summer tire if your driving range and tire life isn't a huge concern. More than any other suspension mod, going to a set if summer tires is going to offer the biggest boost to grip, that the tires are a little wider is just sauce for the goose.

Perhaps it was due to MPG concerns or perhaps there was a cost advantage or even a supply advantage to doing so but its a shame Ford didn't go with this tire from the get-go.

I like wider tires, but gotta say going wider on my car wasnt what i expected, i went cheap on the tires (Riken Raptors from Summit) ride degraded a lot, tire life up front was horrible- I dont think mcpherson struts fixed geometry lends itself well to wide tires- both my fronts cupped severely inside and out within 4000 miles- went back to stock size up front...

the wider rears seem to slap a lot for lack of a better word like on cement cut lines in the highway...like the look, but I gotta rethink the whole wheel/tire situation... just not as nice on the highway, and I still hope to drive 66 one of these days... thinking dd 17's and a little closer to stock width, with at least stock diameter if not slightly larger- but sizes are just so limited...lower profile(smaller diameter) dont look right to me without lowering the car to close the gap, but roads around here - well lowering I dont think would work for me either...
