Shifter sticking??

I have an 05 V6 5spd. Lately it has been a real ***** putting it in 1st gear. It doesnt grind or moan but I have to push really hard most of the time.Like it just doesn't want to pop in there. Rest of the gears are fine. Maybe somthing with the shifter itself? Idk, seems like an odd problem. Anyone else have this issue or know what it could be?

I would suspect the slave cylinder is going bad. Have you checked the clutch master cylinder fluid level?

Depending on the miles it could just be the syncros wearing out too

You might try checking for trans fluid leaks and checking the fluid level. Have you ever changed the trans fluid yet? Fresh Mercon V may help with the syncros.

royal purple synchromax worked wonders on my tranny- kinda damaged the 2nd synchro redline shifting at the track, wouldnt go into second at alll about 1/3 of the time...put up with it for a year, on advice of someone in here tried the RP, and viola- like a new transmission, and its no exaggeration- this stuff is amazing.

that was several years back, after many more harsh trips to the track, its starting to get a little balky again, but only in that sometimes it refuses to go into reverse, have to put in first, roll fwd, then reverse- but its still tolerates redline shifting...53k and im due for a clutch- it disengages clean, so dont think its causing the reverse issue, but it wont bark 3rd anymore, and has had a slight chatter when cold a few times- so assuming its worn/glazed a bit from abuse...its to the point i think next time to the track we might be pushing it home

I'd strongly suggest you try the RP before tearing into the tranny, its due for a change anyways right? stuffs like 15 a quart or something like that, but worth every penny IMHO. if i ever start driving our 09, guarantee soon as it gets a few hundred break-in miles it will get RP before ever seeing the track...I'm certain had I run RP before abusing my 06 it woulda likely prevented the original synchro issues- just amazes me oil could 'fix' -yeah, mask really- a mechanical/wear issue.

For the record I have royal purple in mine and it made zero difference. From what I hear the best is Redline ATF
