Throwing in the towel!
I don't blame my dealer. I'm his ONLY order. When Ford only allots 60 Mustang GTs to 300+ dealers in the KC region and sends all the alottments south. That is FORD's fault. My dealer had nothing to do with it.

Jwede - your are correct. My dealer only had one Mustang come in, and it was a V6 back in November. There is one person in front of me and I am the only other guy who has ordered one from him. I like my guys - I really do not think they were misleading at all. it is the system Ford uses, plus the scam perpetuated by a few dealers who have "stuffed" the order process with false retail orders in an attempt to get inventory for their lots. Those dealers should be punished by cutting next year's allotments. (Which Ford won't do).

Eric,
If you'll read your own post you'll see the dealer has no control over what we're talking about.
dealers are the ones who like said by me and other set the priorties one what Mustang, F150, and 500 they want more than the other orders.
As YOU stated the dealer can only prioritize the orders at his OWN dealership. He has no control over what orders Ford pulls from another dealer. So when Ford pulls an order from dealer "A" that was placed in February and an order from dealer "B" hasn't been pulled and it was placed in October, it's Ford's fault and there's no way anyone can dispute that.

And when they do enter the orders they play around with arbitrary little priority codes that mean nothing other than "we want this car before any other car ordered for our dealership". Does having a priority of "10" guarantee a fast build? Heck no... it simply says that the dealership wants this car first... but they can easily change priorities of pending cars and, from what I've heard, do it all the time.Where Ford is to blame is this silly allocation process. They should be simply using a first-in first-out methodology for fulfilling customer orders. But they don't... They follow some process that would make a Harvard business graduate shudder!

I agree.
Wow, maybe you ought to think about buying one from out of your state?
I went with a volume local Dealer and got a build date two weeks after I ordered for my V6 coupe!
If you want a car that fast maybe just go with a really big Dealer that's maybe not too far away. Work out the price by phone/E-mail and then fly in and drive it home?
You might save money and get your car faster!
Maybe you guys should put in an order with Karpro, he helped me out, and he sells for $200 under invoice. I also saw where he said that he could have it shipped to a local Dealer for you. That would be the best of both Worlds!
Or you guys can E-mail me if you want and I'll send you the name and number of my Sales guy. I'm not sure, but maybe he can help. And yes, he does do X-plan!

The reason you got yours so fast is because you ordered a V6. Nothing against them but they're a dime a dozen around here and most everywhere from what I've heard.
As for going with Van Bortel Ford (Karpro), I think their waiting list is over 20 so it would still be a while. Mine's been on order with them for over 4 months.

Yes completly correct. The process has faults for sure. That being said it was setup to try and provide a flow of cars to all dealers and not serve a few dealers in other words all dealers have the same amount of take in the pie.
You continue to look at this situation with an eye towards blaming Ford solely for the problem. A percentage of the problem is, was, and continues to be caused by the dealers. They accept orders from customers and don't always code them correctly. Sometimes they don't bother entering the order for days or weeks after receiving the order. Why? Who knows!!!
And when they do enter the orders they play around with arbitrary little priority codes that mean nothing other than "we want this car before any other car ordered for our dealership".
