Thinking of canceling my '05 GT order...
I got the Bullitts back on my '03 GT, and gave it a big spring cleaning to get ready to sell. Now I’m thinking, it’s still almost new and looks sharp, maybe I should just keep it and cancel the ’05 GT?
The '05 is due to arrive in about two to three weeks, but my '03 is only a year and a half old, and the loan is at 0%. For the extra money each month, how big a difference will it be with the ’03? Besides, in a couple weeks I can take out the ’65 and the vert for the summer... maybe I should just wait until fall or next spring? What do you guys think?

Paul,
I've been thinking the same thing recently. May keep my 02 GT for 1 more year and like you said, with summer around the corner I can drive my 72 Mach.
But then, it sure will be fun cruzin' in an 05 this summer, hopefully by June.
See, I can't decide either!!

Get the 05....

IMHO, owning a '97 and a '00 GT Vert, there is no comparison. I was getting tired of the wait and seriously considered a Bimmer 330 convertible. I test drove one, and am glad I didn't get it. Not that the Bimmer wasn't sweet, but the 'Stang is quicker, handles at least as well, has roughly the same interior look and feel - if not quality of materials. And, it's a 'Stang.
The '00 is definitely an upgrade in body stiffness and handling from the '97. But the upgrade to the '05 is an order of magnitude above them both in every regard. You won't be sorry if you go with the '05.

You won't be sorry, but considering your current full stable, you may better off waiting till the heat dies down and maybe even get a better price.
The 05' rocks for sure, but man there's nothing like driving a 60's or early seventies model.

You're in a good position. The good thing is you have not one, but two great rides to tide you over! If you do wait, you'd be in a better bargaining position to get an '06! I don't know the details of your deal, but it seems the longer you wait, you're more likely to enjoy a bigger discount and a shorter wait. Agree?
Considered waiting on a special edition? I tried, but I just wanted this car so bad, and my 03 was great! I have not regretted it one day. the only thing i want is the flowmasters i had on my 03. I am getting the kit they have next week.

Thanks for the good feedback guys.
I got the equivalent of X-Plan on the ’05 through a Ford dealer friend, so I don’t think I’ll get a better deal on an ’06… I do have the ’03 at 0% however, and the ’05 will be at the present interest rate, so that will be several more dollars a month. Also, if I sell the ‘03 now I may have to pay a few hundred out of my pocket to clear existing loan, but if I wait six mo to a year, it’ll be worth more than I owe (high monthly payments, no interest).
I have never been in love with my ’03, and I agree 100% that the ’05 is a much better car. That’s why I took the plunge on the’05 six weeks back, that along with the novelty of getting one of the first ones.
I guess that the recent nice weather, combined with having the ’03 all cleaned up and back on the mags and summer tires, plus the knowledge that I can have the two older ones out in a couple of weeks got me thinking… I’m also not thrilled about these stories of the paint chipping easily on the ‘05’s, as I do a lot of highway driving both summer and winter. I’m hoping that If enough people complain, maybe they’ll fix it for the ‘06’s?
I still just dunno...
Thanks again guys.

No offense, but if you financed most of the car's price and took 0% over a rebate, you may want to check your payoff vs trade in
Usually, unless you put a ton of money down(which is only pre-loosing cash in essence anyway), taking 0% is usually on bennificial after you have had the car over 3 1/2 years. Taking a $3000 rebate with a 5%-ish loan will have a much lower payoff for the first couple years vs. 0%.

Thanks Kevin. Because I paid close to invoice for it new, and because of my high monthly payments with no interest (everything applied to the principal), I can sell the '03 privately for what I owe on the loan. If I were to trade it in however, you are correct, I would be upsidedown. I finance in this manner, because of the way in which my employer pays my car allowance.
As for the Xpel, that might be a good idea if I go with the '05, since I ordered black. It costs about $750 to get it done, correct?
