Hi folks,

some of you have told us that they had the chance to sit in one of the show Stangs... I'm 6"4', and I'm not sure if I'll fit into an '05 Mustang

Can anyone please tell me something about this?

 

There is supposed to be more room for us taller driver (I'm 6'2" but have more trouble with cars than my 6'6" friend because of my longer upper body I guess). It depends what you consider comfortable also. I don't like to see any roof or top of windshield if possible (ie. you shouldn't have to duck to see out).

But I'm confident that the new one will be better....and Ford has said so also.

 

The 05 is supposed to have a decently larger amount of head/legroom. I'm 6'8" and I can fit in the current models withouht the seat all the way back. You should be fine. Keep in mind that head/leg room will vary ased on how long your legs and torso are respectively.

 

I'm 6'6" and had a bit of a hard time with the leg room of the current model (I have 38" legs). I ran across a guy who came up with a solution- to drill out a new mounting hole in the rails about an inch back from the originals. I gave it a test-sit, and it would work for me. My understanding is that the '05 will have 1 1/2' to 2" of front leg room and about that much for rear leg room, too. So, I think most of us tall folks will have a pretty good seat without modifying the seats!

 

Im 6'3" and i got about 6" of head room in my 01' mustang which is plenty of room for me, im comfortable with it.


I have no worries about the 05' mustang now having enough head room...

 

The biggest problem I have is reaching the stearing wheel. If I move the seat up to comfortably reach it my knees bang the dash,if I move the seat back for leg room I have to lean in to reach the wheel. Movable pedals will help,but why cant they put a fricken telescopic wheel in the darn thing. :bang: :bang: :bang: :scratch:

 

Exactly, a telescopic wheel would be very sweet. My wife's SVT Focus has this. I'm 6'3" and the current Mustang is OK in the comfort department, but even my WRX has it beat. I'm hoping the new one is better. Oddly, my 97 GT seemed more comfortabled than the 2004 Mustang I was in the other day

 

I forgot to add, I wear size 15 shoes. The room between the clutch and the side wall is a little too tight for my tastes too. I really hope I don't have to buy an STi instead of a Mustang.

 

Also, there was a post (by me) and a number of responses under title "room for a big guy?" -- not sure if it's still on the board or not. I know what you mean -- I really like the looks of the car, but I bought my current Honda Accord coupe when I decided the Mustang was not going to be long-term comfortable.

 

I'm 6' on the line, and I just sat in a current model stang today at the Vancouver Autoshow. The room is ok as far as legs go, but even though I don't hit my head, I don't like how low the top of the windshield is for me. Apparently seats can be raised or lowered by the dealership beyond the standard rail movement, so I have a feeling the extra room in the 05 combined with the dealer adjustments will make it a perfect fit even for us "taller" guys.

Hmm.. curious. You have a point though, since the reference I was given for the process was on a car without airbags. Anybody know for sure?

you can always rip out the front seat and drive from the backseat like that dude did in the honda civic in the critically acclaimed moive police academy...

 

Man I feel really short in here (5'10")

 

5'10" is the perfect height for a car driver. Sometimes I wish I wasn't 6'3" with size 15 shoes :angry: So hard to find a comfortable sports car with room in the foot well.

 

Yeah, size 14EEEE here --- I tried sitting in Jag XK8, with the manual transmission. No way. Of course, I wasn't going to buy it anyway, but with the super-sizing of the American Public, car designers should be giving this more thought.

 

LOL. I wish I was 5'10", I'm only 5'3". I just barely got my driving permit. Man, it sucks being this short when it comes to driving.
