The British market seemed not to need the correction
The British market does need a correction.

Don't you remeber when the Jag S-type R came out there was a big flap about it not meeting its advertised HP?

Turns out the Brits were still using BHP, the way they've been measuring and ratign their engines for years.

The S-Type R's HP for the US got lowered and very quitetly after that all Jag HP #'s got lowered. IIRC the V6 S-type got lowered from 240 HP to something like 232 HP.

Everyone keeps on saying, "don't hold your breath"...

They already said it was going to be 500HP fellas...

And do you realise how simple it is to get 500HP out of that 5.4?

Do you know the last Lightning had 380HP, and 450TQ??? It doesn't need that much of an increase in power..

I understand why people are saying this..They want to think they are accepting the reality of the situation...But you're not.

one mor ething to help my case:

but sure go ahead and believe whatever you want...

The Lightning Project is dead. Not coming back (for a while anyway). Putting 500hp in it isn't the problem. Putting 500hp in a truck that noone will buy, is.

You sound very sure of yourself. So who has notified you of this? And I don't mean names. Just tell us Ford engineering or marketing VP or something like that and what were the circumstances where this revelation was made.

Cuz you're the very FIRST I've heard this from and there's plenty of heavyweight insiders all over the net who havn't raised any red flags on the '06 Lightning.

****NEWS FLASH*******

Geez this blows. I was planning on buying an '07 500hp SC Cobra TILL I found out it was going to be an NA 5.4 around 450hp. SO then I said to myself fine I'll blow my $40K on the '06 Lightning. Soooo.... now it looks like I'm left having to buy a 6.0 400hp '05 GTO.

FREAKIN' GREAT :bang:

Thank you...

BTW the guy i got this from is a Ford Account manager for one of their major suppliers.

I was not even aware that i "knew" him until a couple weeks ago.

I KNOW quite a bit now, but I really can't share it.

Since someone had allready posted about the lightning maybe not coming out, all i did was agree with it.

Maybe 5.4, Maybe S/C, Maybe 480HP, Maybe detuned GT engine. I don't know anything though. Wasn't there even a poll to bann me?

I mean you guys know all these "Top Ford execs". Where were they on the Lightning news? I mean I knew that 2 weeks ago.

I don't remember a poll to ban you or anyone. I have been busy and don't read all the posts anymore, though. If you know all this info and are willing to share it, I am all for keeping you around.

Another fella with insider connects. GuionM posts over on CamaroZ28.com. The SC 5.4 will NOT clear any reasonable shaped hood. Therefore there will be NO SC 5.4 in the stang.

It's going to be NA and I even highly doubt they can crank 450hp out of a nonSC mod motor.

I'd say the only hope for a worthwhile Cobra is the 5.8L V10 or the all new Hurricane.

Didn't think so.

I'd say there's a very good chance his contact has seen/driven the mule.

And he never bulls**** about stuff he doesn't know. There's not going to be any SC 5.4 stang from Ford.

HAHAHAHA...ok dude.
Like i said (and someone else said as well), 480HP is the number. And that is detuned from 530 so that it will last 100k miles. They aren't getting that N/A.

I agree they aren't getting 480 from an NA 5.4. Heck, I don't belive they could get much over 400.

Sounds like a 351 V10 to me.

Personally, it doesn't matter if the next gen Cobra is N/A or SC as long as the HP number is at least 480 hp. I do know that when I spoke to the Ford rep with the Ford Power Tour a few months back, all he would say is that the next gen Cobra would have 5.4 power and make around 80 - 100 hp more than the '03 - '04 cars. I don't know how "in the know" he was but it certainly fits the 480 hp being discussed here. Just my $.02.

All I am saying, is that I am told from someone rather connected (we are talking meets Hau Thai-Tang weekly), that it's a 5.4, S/C V8. He went as far as to give me HP numbers for both 40k mile and 100k mile reliability tests. He has seen, and driven it. He even told me whose facilities they are designing it at (and, it's not Ford's).

If the 5.4 fit in the Cobra R, and the engines in this chassis sit even lower, adding the blower should still clear a raised hood. With the lightning gone, and the blown 5.4 allready being used in the GT, Ford has to split up the development cost somehow.

It wouldn't happen to be in Las Vegas at a little place called Shelby American would it?

Also, what about the test mule pic that I posted a while back? Several people thought it may have been a photochop but I thought it may have been real
