You're on the website with THE most information on the new Mustang in the world.

It supposedly won't be out until late 2005, but we initially thought it wouldn't be until 2006 as a 2007 model. Rumors persist that it will offer around 450 hp for not much more $ than the '03-'04 Cobra.

Just the Motor Trend article saying that the next SVT offering will be released late 2005.

Other than that, no idea.

I would put my money on the powerlease,

I doubt Ford would mislead their loyal SVT customers by locking them into leases and then popping the car out early.

It doesn't get any more official than the PowerLease documentation.

The only info we have is rumors...But those rumors are backed up by the way SVT does things, and what we know about the previous SVT Cobra...

What we know:

The Current Cobra actually has about 425-430 FWHP..It is underrated.

One magazine has already reported they have seen a IRS equired 05 Mustang test mule, with a T56 Tremec, and a S/C 5.4

Then we have rumors that float around as a result of the above info...

J Mays started it all when he hinted that the Cobra would have 500HP... It's not that surprising though when you consider the last 03-04 Cobra jumped over 100HP over the previous 01 Cobra. So it wouldn't be that shocking if the new Cobra had 500HP..

Also consider this is an all new Mustang, so the SVT guys are REALLY going to want this to be special....And it's not like they don't have the capabilities of making this Cobra have 500HP....They have already promised the same-price Lightning would have 500HP, so why would it be surprising if the Cobra had 500HP as well?

As far as the car it's self, the designers have said this car was made for IRS, and should handle beautifully....We already know the Cobra will be equipped with IRS...

Now consider, SVT anounced that they would concentrate less on actual power outputs of it's future vehicles, but more on making them lighter, and handle better...

I don't know if the car will be lighter than the Mustang GT, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was close!

You know the Mustang Cobra might not even have a backseat? There have been reports that the back seat does not fit when the Mustang is equipped with IRS. So how will they fit the backseat in?

Those are just some of the rumors...

Wow, 425-430 FWHP? I didn't even know the Cobra had FWD!

And, the Lightning will probably not have 500 hp. SVT has already stated that they can't squeeze a whole lot more hp into the Lightning without the price going way up. They did say, however, that they were working on making the truck lighter, which would not only improve acceleration, but also handling, as well.

IRS 5.4 S/C 480HP, detuned from 530HP in order to guarantee 100k miles. Oh wait, I wasn't supposed to say that...

Yeah, but he was saying Flywheel-Horsepower. I was just pointing out how it looks like Front-wheel Horsepower.

I've never even had a car with 300 hp, never mind 500. What do you do with a car that powerful? It can't be a daily driver, can it? I thought I remember reading one of the auto mags had to drive a Viper in the rain and even their experts couldn't handle it.

Do you get it for the track, or do you cruise on weekends, or what?

Ford has stated in numorous articles that the new Lightning will be 500hp minimum. With the SRT's arrival, they need to at least match. I'm betting once again, it will be somewhat under-rated.

Since we're fairly sure there will be various levels of SEs, if they go full boat 500hp on the Cobra, they'll need to move SEs like the boss or the Mach further downstream, say 450 or 400.

That's my guess.
