I'm definitely getting a tune next week. (BTW, I'm trying to get ahold of an AM rep for the forum discount, but no response. Anyone know if they're still doing it?) I just don't know if any CAI will be worth the money, even with a tune.

id say as long as your getting a tune that itll be better than a stock air box

No I think at most you would get 15hp, with a tune. CAI don't add much hp unless you have other mods

I have a JLT, I have none nor have I heard any complaints. I got the tuner CAI combo from AM. IMO, it made a huge difference. Better throttle response, sounds and feels more powerful. Engine sound is much deeper. Pulls noticibly harder, especially around 3K RPMs. Even on the race Tune I get about 1-2 mpg better than stock. To me it was worth the 550 I paid for it all(AM sale)

I haven't dynoed it yet, but I've heard people get around 20-25 at the wheels with the combo. The Tune is where you'll get most of the improvements. The CAI might give an extra 5-10 and will make it sound a lot better

Thanks for the info. The guy never responded to me, so I guess he already sold it or changed his mind. I may still get an intake at some point, if I come across a good deal. I just don't think any of them are worth $200-$300.

On another note, I got an OBD-II Bluetooth adapter today, so that I could use the Torque app. Just messing around with it, I got a 7.5s 0-60mph and an 1/8th mi. time of 10.5s. I'm sure I could do a little better, but that's roughly what I was expecting it to be.

Anyone else use this, or another, app? I'm curious what intake air temps people are reading with a stock intake vs a CAI. I've heard people mention possible heat issues from using metal/other conductive parts on the intake. Just on my short drive, mine was about the same as the ambient air temp.

I got Torque for $5 and a $15 BT adapter about a month ago when I was diagnosing the Miata in preparation for trading it in on my new baby (at that time, still a stranger!). I used to keep it in real-time display while driving in the dock just because it looks cool.

I used it to run diags and pull and reset codes and played with the real-time stuff but barely knew what I was looking at. It bugged me that it didn't show oil pressure, then I wonder if you have to have a different sending switch to get actual pressure VS oil/no oil gauge.

I still need to set up a profile for the GT/CS so I can use the other stuff.
It would be good if someone would post the settings for specific Mustang models/configurations. I really like that you can use it in multiple vehicles.

Unfortunately, even though my phone has a decent display, my old eyes need bigger. My 10-inch Touchpad is a little too big so I am guessing I need to get a 7-inch Nexus or something to really do it right. Dang! More money I need to spend.

The information available depends on your car's ECU. I though i remember seeing oil pressure... I'll have to check for that when i get a chance.

Ive got the app/OBDII bluetooth as well . I havent done a lot with it yet, but I can run it and let you know what temps I'm getting. But when I first messed around with it I noticed ther is ALOT of info you can get from it. Ill have to see which things actually work.

Also for the CAI I would agree that it is not worth the 2-300. The tuner itself is around 400, so with the combo I only payed around 150 for it, which is a bit more reasonable.

I'm kinda in the same boat. Theres a lot you can get from this app but I dont know what I'm looking at half the time either. Ive been going through all the gaugues you can put on the display and I do not see an oil pressure one either.

I just found something on the Torque forum that tells me we might not be ABLE to get oil pressure.
Does anyone know if the oil sensor goes directly to the gauge or through the ECU?

Logic tells me if the ECU isn't getting it, Torque can't either.

Update: I never saw an oil pressure monitor on the Torque app, so I guess it's not available.

The guy selling the intake finally got my email (apparently it was in his spam folder the whole time). He's trying to sell me an X3 with it (at a pretty nice price for the combo), but I've already gotten a good deal on one thanks to a fellow forum member (Codeman). I'm just waiting for it to arrive in the mail. So hopefully he'll split the intake/tuner up and it should make for a really sweet deal. I'm just waiting to hear back from him again on that.

Since the hit and run, my mail has mysteriously disappeared and I'm only getting a random letter every now and then. So I'm still waiting to get the insurance estimate/check to get started on my car. But right now it's looking like I'm gonna get a GT500 rear bumper, FRPP dual exhaust, hopefully I'll get that JLT CAI, and I'll probably get tunes from both Steeda and AM and just see which one I end up liking better.

I'm really excited to finally start doing some mods other than appearance. Not that I don't love looking at my car, but it's time to start upping the fun factor as well.

Yeah, for real. I'm more worried about the tuner getting lost in the mail right now...I really don't want to have to deal with that. USPS has already been completely worthless as far as helping me out. Mailman didn't have a clue wtf to even tell me. I submitted a complaint online, and was supposed to hear back within 2 days...nothing. I submitted a complaint over the phone, and was supposed to hear back within a day...nothing. I talked to someone in person at the post office and had them submit a form to fix my address, but that hasn't seemed to help at all yet. I seriously think I'm gonna have to send a piece of mail to myself and pay to track it, just so I can figure out where it's all ending up.

But on the upside, I heard back from the guy selling the intake. He didn't want to split them up, but it's still a really good deal. So I'm buying the JLT and the X3, and I guess I'll resell one of the X3's. Crazy how things work out...I never had one at all for so long, and now I'll have 2. lol. So if anyone wants to buy it, PM me an offer.

He's been busy, but I heard from him this morning and he's sending it out today. I'm gonna head over to the main post office today too, and see if I can talk to someone that actually knows what they're talking about.

If that tuner had tunes on it for a GT with the JLT intake, I would be interested.

Wouldn't it have to be redone to match your computer's code? Either way, let me know if you change your mind...

That shows just how much I don't know about the whole handheld tuner process.
