Stupidgenius36's Build/Progress Thread
I've finally started adding some mods and starting to get to some more serious mods, so I thought I'd start my own thread to show progress and ask questions specific to my car. Here goes:
So it started out in '04 as a fully-loaded V6, and I'd like to eventually end up with a street light beast that can get into the 9-second quarter mile and still look like a show car.
Yeah...I know, I know...I've got a loooong way to go. But I'm just taking it one thing at a time and working my way up in price, while trying not to buy anything that I'll have to replace again. And since it's also my daily driver, I can't currently afford to put it in the shop for long periods of time.
I'll post pics of the progress I've made so far.

Next I'm thinking about doing some performance mods. Starting with a tune. Would it be any worse for me to get a tune now (8 years old), than it would be if I had gotten it tuned when it was new?
I'm also contemplating 4.10 gears/limited-slip or completely swapping the rear axle for an 8.8in also with 4.10's. My question is...How much power is the 7.5in able to handle, if I do decide to stick with it? It'll obviously be much cheaper to keep the 7.5 and just do gears, but is that a wise choice? Also, will 4.10's noticeably change my top speed, or am I nowhere near it anyway?

Your car looks great
Mine is an 05 I that got the day before Thanksgiving 04 and it's been a great 8 years for me too. They're definitely worth keeping , and once you up the performance it'll be like a new car all over again ...

I live near Steeda and I've been a customer since 1990 , so they've done pretty much all my performance work on my cars over the years and the tunes as well. A couple of years ago I decided to try out BBR , which is also nearby , when I changed the pulley size on my S/C and went to the FRPP 62mm TB and I was pleased with their tune too. Recently I had the FRPP Hot Rod cams installed by Steeda , so I'm back to running their tune now , either one of the two places will give you a good tune. I don't have any first hand experience with AM but I hear their mail order tunes are pretty good , of course I prefer a local tuner if possible.
I've been thinkin' about wheels lately too. I thought about Plasti-Dipping everything but the machined face, and seeing how that looks. But I know taping it off is gonna be a ***** and will probably take me a while.
I'd like to get some Steeda Spyders (black with machined face/lip), since the 11in width will let me run some pretty fat tires back there. I'm just not sure if I'm ready to drop the coin on that yet, as it's not really "necessary" yet.
So in the mean time, I'm thinking about getting some 18" 2010-Style GT500 Wheels to hold me over in the mean time.

Man, that still sounds good. My only concern is getting it inspected. I'm trying to decide between that and Loudmouths, but those basically look like just tips too, no?
If they're just tips as well, then that seems kinda pricey for nothing. I'd rather see how much a shop would charge me. I saw some dual exhaust conversion kits on AM as well for $350-$400, and I'm wondering if an exhaust shop could do that cheaper as well after reading your thread that you posted.
Sorry, I was referring to this: http://www.americanmuscle.com/axexlmo20mug.html

Did the headers really make much of a difference?
That's what I was afraid of...I don't wanna waste money on them for nothing. The only long tubes I know of are Pace Setter, and I don't really know anything about them...Other than long tubes are usually a ***** to install.
