Yup, You should be able to get them about an 1" under the lip of the rear plate, and on the sides of the opening to where the plate is. There will be a hole in the bumper cover under the 'lip' for the plate lights anyway. should work fine. I am definately having a pro do mine though. Even if you needed to do a separate piece inside the tag area, you can seam it at the actual radi so it does not show. I wouldnt leave the area blank though.

You just can't put 10" wide stripes from the front to the back of your car. Shelby stripes got wider as they went back. Adding stripes isn't an easy task. Wait and buy a stripe kit from Roush, Shelby or someone who develops one you like. The stripe kit for the current model Roush is just over $100, which is well worth it when you consider your car will look rediculous with a bad stripe job.
Actually, that doesn't make any sense to me... your stripes should be the same width from front to back, but the pics Brad posted are of Mustangs with completely disproportionate stripe sizes as compared to vehicle size. Those thin stripes look great- but on small cars. Take a look a my stripes now...

If you notice, the stripes are VERY wide, I think 12" EACH (you gotta' get two!) They definitely do not change size as the go back. Again, it's just about proportions, so get wide stripes since the Mustang is a wide looking vehicle. B) [/b][/quote]
The taper will most likely look better then straight with the rather rounded-out front end on the car for 05. How long have you had your stripes and how have they held up?

If you use 2mil automotive vinyl the stripes should last at least 7 years. Just don't hit them close up at and angle with a pressure washer or you might end up peeling them off.

I think the only thing we have established is that we have no idea what Ford is doing.

HAHA!

I saw this as your sig in another thread and couldn't remember what post I typed it under. I'm bored at work and had to search for it!

What color are the skunk stripes on the Satin Silver Mustang that was at the Auto Shows?

Have stripes always been taped on, or do some have them painted on? What has Ford offered historically?

The new GT (the GT, not the Mustang GT), a $150K car, has tape stripes.

You can do a tape stripe delete, and then for something like $4000 option, you can get painted Le Mans strips.

The car was Titanium Silver with Satin Silver stripes. It just shows how "white" Satin Silver can look which is why I'm not getting it.

Well I have confirmed from another Mustang source that stripes will indeed be a dealer installed option. Black will be on of the colors for sure. Didn't have time to get comment on any other color.

Any dealer can do tape stripes, tinted windows, or even full lettering for commercial vehicles. They all have a local pinstripe and vinyl sign company on contract.

Yes, painted stripes are an option. The painted stripes are the full Le Mans style stripe, including hood, roof, and rear.

The side stripes, on the base car, are tape.

There is a tape stripe delete code:

"DELETE "FORD GT" BODY-SIDE TAPE STRIPES Code: 97D"

Go to http://www.cudirect.com and build yourself a GT if you don't trust me.

Just to repeat what Kevin said, how will this be different than getting a dealer to add stripes normally? Will it be offered as an option on the 06 vs. just asking the dealer to do it?

Sure hope that it's not a 5k option on the Stang; seems high to me.

Yes, they can do both. You can either have them put extremely thin substance (usually vinyl tape) for cheaper. Or you can have them paint them on which is much more expensive.
