My relative was having a discussion with someone on the Mustang (they both work at Ford). They said stripes would be an option to get on the Mustang but it would be done by the dealer and therefore you'd have to get it through them. They said the colors would be black, silver, and some other color (I'm guessing gold or white). Anyways, thought I'd pass it along.

How specific....
meaning
Could this be the tape stripe on the V6?
or was it infact the shelby stripes?

Just curious is all

My relative knows I'm obsessed with shelby/skunk/le mans/(whatever you want to call them) stripes. They said it was not the tape stripe. Plus, silver isn't an option on the tape stripe and it's one of the colors they knew. Obviously one can't take it as rock solid proof but it's sure more hope than we've been given so far.

Hrm, wonder how much it would cost for those to get them done at a dealership.

I mean its easy, ford could have the template, and send it to the dealerships and whoever wants them done....it gets done.

at what cost !???!

Yeah, I've always wanted a Mustang with well done stripes on it and the one at the NAIAS was just great. I just wish they made those stripes an option. I'd pay whatever the extra cost.

Interesting, since most of 66 shelbys came without stripes, and the dealer applied them.

Hmm... wouldn't it be easier for Ford to just put them on at a plant using there duel paint technology? It seems to me that doing it at the dealership would put more cash in the dealers hands than Fords?

If I remember correctly (I could be wrong), the tape stripe for the V6 is just applied when it arrives at the dealer. That's the way it worked for my 2001 V6 and I'm assuming it'd be the same for the 2005 one. That's what confuses me if that's true: why have a person order a tape stripe but have the dealer install it but for stripes they have to order it from the dealer. Maybe it's cause the tape stripe is part of a package and not an "accessory" like stripes are.

Funny, I got my car (v6 as well) with tape stripe and told them to take it off.
I can hear them thinkin in their heads 'but we JUST put this ON!'

Well I just asked my relative and they said as far as they know the tape stripe isn't installed at the dealership. But I could have sworn I heard that somewhere. Bah, whatever the case I'm probably wrong.

Didn't we establish that Le Mans stripes would be part of an appearance SE package coming out later in the model year, the whole eighteens" and what not package?

I think the only thing we have established is that we have no idea what Ford is doing. Then again, maybe they don't either!

You can GET the vinyl side stripes(or mach stripes, or 1986 GT hood stripes) from any parts counter. The dealer should have someone who does tape and vinyl work they know. There will not be a skunk stripe for dealers unless they take it upon themselves to set up something with a private graphics/sign shop to make them custom. After a few months, places like www.stang-graphics.com will surely have them. http://www.stang-graphics.com/racingstripes.html or graphic express http://www.graphic-express.com/

And any sign shop that does vehicle graphics can put them on for you professionally.

oh, here you go:

And basic stripe kits........(I may only do the hood myself)

I may have to get my stang now in performance white with red interior, 10" red stripes all the way down, shelby 350 rocker stripes, the ducktail spoiler from cervinis, and these wheels:

EDIT: blah have to get halibrands

I may also do silver or body-color headlight buckets too.

Those wheels are only about $180 each for 17"s, $210 for 18"s.

Then again, I may go red with white stripes....... I wouldnt mind doing sonic with silver ones, but I want the red interior. :worship:

I don't understand anyway why they aren't offering white V6 stripe packages but only black ones, we've seen pre-production photos which clearly show that the white ones look way better.

Anyway, you're bloody right man, I guess Redfire with white stripes would look awesome.

I am just going to design my own stripe package. I ordered Sonic blue and will be using Bright silver metallic. Will just do something simple like 10" racing stripes across the top and the smaller side ones along the bottom that say 300 GT or something....

Be careful; stripes shouldn't be the same width all the way back. I would wait to see how the aftermarket does theirs; I've seen Mustangs with REALLY horrible stripe jobs because people thought they could do it themselves.
