Starting in 2nd Gear
Will taking off in second gear at 4 or 5k rpms cause damage to the Tremec or Transmission? If not, do people do this at the track for a quicker launch.
I seen a show awhile back where they took several different muscle cars from the 60's and ran them through a few different tests. One of the tests was the burnout and he was gunning it in second gear from the get go.

the Tremec is the transmission and it won't do it much good but the biggest loser will be your clutch.

For the purpose of "burning out", yes the 2nd gear launch will do the trick. 60's muscle cars typically had larger CID engines with much more low end torque than the 4.6 3v has. Second gear "smoke shows" where no problem.
Hope that answers your questions.

I tried a 2nd gear burnout and the only thing that burnt was my clutch. Even with TCL turned off, it will come back on all by itself and the power that was supposed to be sent to the rear wheels get sent back to the next weakest link; your clutch disk.
