Anybody get engine noise on a cold startup? if so what can be done about it. It lasts about 20secs, it sounds like the pistons are rattling around in there holes.

I love startin mine up in the morning. Something about just waking up makes it sound louder and meaner, but mine idles and runs just fine from start.

There was a case a while back where the timing chain tensioners in the 05 were losing hydraulic pressure and not holding. The noise that you hear is the chain slack slapping something while the tensioners get oil pressure and tension back up. My 97 SHO did this bad.

Fritz, my car is in the shop today for it's 3rd, and hopefully last time. The tensioner on the passenger side is what is making the noise. FORD kept trying to fix the problem but never ordered enough replacement parts so finally today it went in again to have the problem fixed. I heard the service manager say that there is a TSB out on this issue. They tried the 2 missing bolts and that was not the problem.
