The Special Editions might not have too much difference between them other than cosmetics.

Considering that the 5-speed GT is capable of hitting 0-60 in under 5 seconds, and the Cobra SHOULD be the top Mustang performer, there can't be much room performance-wise between the two. There may be enough room for one SE to come in between the two in speed. However, any aesthetic packages are gonna look absolutely sweet on the new 'stang, anyway.

*Unless the new Cobra will have 0-60 times hovering at or below 4 seconds.

I'm with Kevin --> SHELBY (as he's already had one to tinker with)

SEMA Predictions:
1) Shelby GT-350 (scoops and stripes galore)
2) BULLITT Concept (mmm...dark highland green)
3) BOSS 302 (cammer engine)

As much as I'd like to see them, I don't think we will yet, so give it a year or two.

I know I may be overly excited and dreaming (hit the snooze bar again)
but FORD is the Official Car Company @ SEMA.

We all watched the Extreme Mustang show tonight on the Discovery Channel, and it was mentioned several times, that over a year had been spent in the development of the Multimatic/Turn-key Ford Racing Catalog car. Heck, it was only a little over a week ago that we even saw its first pictures (and it still had a newer paint scheme, than in the show), or found out (thanks TiVo) about Mutimatic's development work, and Grand Am racing future. Even the GT-R was out of left field.

So in conclusion, I do not find it hard to believe, that we WILL still be shocked, surprised and wow'd, by what FORD and others will display, in the way of Special Mustangs.

SEMA is a Big Deal, and the Mustang WILL BE a Big Deal @ SEMA!!!

I'm thinking 0-60's will break down something like this:

GT: 4.8-4.9
SE's: 4.5 (give or take)
SVT Cobra: 4.1 (Corvette territory - which would make sense, as it will have at least 150 bhp more than the GT)

Either way, EAT THAT BMW!!

Just for the record... BMW (Meaning M3's I assume), have often been outclassed in the 1/4 by certain Mustangs. (SVT's, Saleens, etc.). A V8 versus a tight I6 with some of the best HP/Displacement in the business. I don't think that's going to change. But the weight of the V8 has costs. The M3 generally has outperfomed many mustangs in cornering, braking, fit and finish, reliability and style. And sits between the Vette and Stang in pure performance. (The SVT and Saleens are the real competition there). Personally, I have great hopes for Ford; they've done a great job lately of fixing lots of things, and bringing a lot back to the brand. Don't get me wrong, I've always liked Mustangs. But I bought my M3 because it was a better balanced car (at a premium price). And the Vette was a better pure performer than either. In other words, any of them are great cars with different tradeoffs.
