SIDE AIRBAGS
I have read thru several threads where each person who has ordered included the side airbags in their options ?, I did not include this option in my order, thought it may be cumbersome to work around , etc etc, also I admit, I just don't know much about em.
Are they worth having ? yea, or, nay...Thanks in advance...

Yes, keeping my dome out of the window would be a plus !!! LOL...although I must admit this is not one of my major concerns...Thanks for the laugh though...

I don,t mean to sound negative about the side air bags, they are an option for a reason, and I chose not to add them, although I may re consider. I am just worried about reliability, and the actual space taken up in the door itself...
PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong...
I thought the Institute of Highway safety just tested a bunch of cars with side airbags and only one (an import I think) showed any decrease in driver/passenger injuries. Basically, the idea is nice and the potential is great but the logistics aren't there yet. But I would assume almost anything would help. Just reducing the amont of glass flying at you would be beneficial.
As for "with it, you live, with out it, you die"... now that's a stretch. I know we are talking about side airbags and front airbags increase survival rates and decrease injuries but people have been hurt (or worse) because of front air bags deploying and those without have walked without a scratch in similar accidents. The same could be said for side airbags.
That all being said, I think it's worth the upgrade.

There was something about the configuration of the door panels that was needed to add the side air bags to the car. Hence the reason of requiring the IUP to get side-air bags because of something they did to the doors.
For some reason I want to say it had something to do with the Shaker subs in the doors.
