6.2L V8 will be offered first in the F-150 for 2010. It would be at least one model year before it migrates to the Mustang, if it ever does, and even then it would be only offered in a special edition model as an upgrade over the Mustang GT. The mainstream Mustang GT's of the world will continue with a smaller (4.6 to 5.0L) "entry level" V8.

If you had a traditional loan and wanted to unload the car in a couple years, most people find they owe much more on the loan than the car is worth as a trade-in, so they're upside-down (inequity). In a lease, you're never upside-down at the end of the term (unless they've damaged the car beyond normal wear & tear, or driven excess miles beyond what they agreed to at the start of the lease - two things that would affect trade-in value even if they paid cash or financed anyway).

And for someone who wants to eventually own a car, another option of a Ford Red Carpet Lease is that you can buy (or finance) the car at lease-end if you choose to keep it. The amount you buy it for is a predetermined amount clearly stated in the lease up front.

A lease gives you options, and it does not take away your ability to "own" the car.
In my case I was buying a bit more car than I could afford. To buy and keep the payment low, I would have had to put down $10K or finance for 7 years with less money down. This was to keep the payment under $400. I lease for I think $287 before taxes ($328 after) with 3K down. After i'm done with the lease, i'll have more money saved to purchase and keep the payment just as low on a 4 or 5 year loan. I may pay a bit more in interest, but the monthly payment would be affordable to me. I started at $34.8K down to $31.2K x-plan with a $25K buy at the end.

My lease ends in March 2010, so if I like the '10s i'm in perfect shape to roll into one, or hang in a few months and order an '11, or keep the '08.

For me, the lease was perfect.

I also have a 2005 Trailblazer. I lost money big time there buying it! I should leased that one!

Leasing is great in situations like this, but bad for cars with low residuals as the payments are way too high.
05FORDGT looked up my rates for me as well and was surprised they were so high. I think it was 69 or 70 percent, plus the 2 or 3 percent for the 10.5K mile lease. This was the deal Ford ran from January to March. I don't know what the numbers were in December, but the same vehicle would have leased for about $70 more! Ouch! I wanted to order in March, but the deal was good so I ordered in January to get delivery before the program ended. I did lose the rebate though. It was supposed to run until the end of March, but it was mysteriously gone from the offer on pickup day. UGH!
