She Won
She Won
This is the third or fourth car show / cruise in that I entered my car in.
I was floored when she won a trophy
I enter them for the fun of it and it is for a good cause the entry fee.
I do not enter them expecting to win anything.
But she was picked top 3 for the 1990 - 2006
I do not even remember who the other two were.
When they called my entry number I thought for sure it was wrong, but after they said my car and name I about passed out.
There was a total of 255 cars registered.
About 30 to 40 were within the 1990 - 2006 years
Well here is a picture of her

CONGRATS on the win!!!!!! I love taking my car to shows. For me it the comroderie of the whole thing. I met the greatest people back in March, at a show, and have been going to shows with them all ever since. Its a total bonus when you win something. I am running out of room on my dresser, with 7 trophies so far.

The ones I've been to I just make sure the interior is clean.
Interior cleaner, leather wiped down, back to black on the trim.
Outside of course freshly washed waxed or quick detailed.
Clean trunk.
I wipe down the engine the best I can.
Clean the rims and shine the tires.
This last show I had to drive through wet grass to get to my spot (we parked in the grass). I made sure to get all the we grass off of the tires.
I have not had anyone look under my car yet.
I have only been in two shows that you had to have the hood and trunk open.
I always keep my cleaners in a stoage tub with lid in my trunk, that way I have my stuff when ever I want it.
Glad I had it one time I was at a light under a street light and a bird was up there.
I bet I need to say no more as to what happened.
Light turned green, pulled into the next parking lot pulled out my glass wipes to take care of the issue.
These pics are from early. there were a mess more cars, I ran out of memory in the camera =(

I'm going right to the poor house
Most of the shows I have been to, the judging is either "peer" or the people who run the show come around. In any "peer" judged show, the other car owners vote for what they like. The shows where they come around and actually inspect your car, if you have anything special, its always good to tell them that before they get their judging sheet out. For me, I went to a show in Bensalem in June, and I didn't tell the lady who was judging that my stripes were painted (even though I have a plaque displayed that shows all mods). She wrote me down for vinyl stripes, with no points for having any extra paint. Needless to say I was miffed and didn't get anything (I was also docked points for not having any neon lights, Lambo Doors, or DVD monitors in my headrests. GMAB!!!)
So the next show I went to, I specifically told the judge my stripes are painted, and cleared. It worked and I got 2nd place. At all the other shows I went to that actually had judges, I told them my stripes were painted, and I have won a trophy. I'm 3 for 3 doing that.
Boltzman, when you go to the show, and if they judge with a sheet, make sure you tell them everything you have done to your car. It can only help. Good luck.

My car is a daily driver, and even though I might spend hours detailing it, I just can't compete with cars that are truly show queens. My car usually gets loads of attention, and many nice comments, but I've never gotten a trophy, and I have stopped entering it into competition, unless they have an unjudged category. One local guy has a new Mustang that is very nice. Satin silver with a tasteful teal stripe on the side, and loads of color coordinated details, especially in the engine compartment. His alternator is even painted the same teal color! I didn't even realize where the alternator was until I saw his looking so pretty. I can't compete with that, and don't even want to. I get to drive my car, while he does very little. Never let the thought of a trophy keep you out of the driver's seat.
Just ask the people who handle the registration (when you sign in, and get your goodie bag and windshield card). Just ask them " how is the cars judged?" If they say Peer Judged, its really a crapshoot, as other owners will vote for whatever trips their trigger. If they say, "we come around and judge", just ask what time, and keep an eye out for them. When they come around, like I mentioned, tell them what you have done to your car. Some people don't know the difference between stock interior, and a car with aluminum pedals, full Redline leather goods, boots, etc. Hope you do well, and get a trophy.
It is a cool feeling when they call your name for an award.

My car is a daily driver as well, no show queen here. I have over 13,000 miles on my car.
I do however keep up on the cleaning and try to keep her as nice as possible.
I have a few nicks in my paint as well.
Like I said, I do it for the fun of it. Donate the money, meet great people and talk about our cars.
I never expect to win anything as I do it for the enjoyment of the other cars and meeting the people.
I love my car. I think she is beautiful the way she is.
