Shallow mount 8s for the doors

Over hauling the stereo here....It looks like options are pretty limited for the shallow mount 8s in the doors. I know pioneer makes a decent one. Anyone else done this, and what type of results have you got?

I just installed a head unit that had built in crossover (24db/octave) and sub control. Makes the factory subs come alive and gives you way more control. IMHO, the factory subs are "decent" enough if you can cross them over and control them via head unit. There is no hair shaking bass, but your mirrors will vibrate quite handily. And the sound OK too.

It made a 200% difference. Just throwing new subs in won't give you what you are looking for I don't think.

Ok thanks. yea the head unit is going first, so thats great to know there will be that big a difference in the sound of the door subs. I have 2 large mtx amps that I want to throw in the car before too long, so I may still replace them just so I don't fry/blow them. I doubt they can handle 2-300 rms .

If you plan on amplifying, then new subs are definitely needed.
