I take delivery around noon Friday and hope I do not have any shaker issues like so many of the rest. I did download and read the manual a couple days ago to pass the time while waiting for my new ride. This is what I found

"CD units are designed to play commercially pressed 4.75 in
(12 cm) audio compact discs only. Due to technical
incompatibility, certain recordable and re-recordable compact
discs may not function correctly when used in Ford CD players.
Irregular shaped CDs, CDs with a scratch protection film
attached, and CDs with homemade paper (adhesive) labels should
not be inserted into the CD player. The label may peel and cause
the CD to become jammed. It is recommended that homemade
CDs be identified with permanent felt tip marker rather than
adhesive labels. Ball point pens may damage CDs. Please contact
your dealer for further information."

I wonder how much effort Ford will put into any corrections.

I wonder if not reading the manual is part of the problem. I read a number of posts in another forum about the " RDS " feature, and everyone that replied had no idea they had it and admitted they hadn't read the manual.

The manual also states that pressing the " TEXT " button - ( # 6 on the Shaker 1,000 diagram ) will display the album name, song title and artist name when playing CD's. All I get is " CD NO TEXT " with every CD played, including new ones purchased at Xmas. How do I get this to display the information? Did I miss something in the manual myself? :bang:

 

I have no problems with the text button, works great for me. Also just want to point out that the Shaker issues are not just with burnt cd's but also brand new, off the shelf ones.

 

No, there is nothing wrong, very few cd's have that information embedded. I am assuming you are talking about cd's you have bought at a record store and not mp3 files.

 

I think Adrenalin meant that the Shaker issues had to do with new, store bought cd's and trouble with the unit playing them (bad disc, rewind playback noise), rather than them not having text.

 

You assume corectly. New purchases at a record store. I thought maybe my older purchases may not have whatever coding is required, but figured the new ones bought just last month would. I appreciate your easing my mind.
Will CD's that have the encoding be marked or have something indicating they have it? Anything I should look for at my next purchase, or a specific CD that's known to work just so I know my Shaker is OK? Thankz.
