I bought my 06 GT vert in 2005 new and still using the car as a DD. The car is awesome, had no issues and continues to run well. I will be keeping this for a very long time.

I also have the 2015 GT with PP and Recaros. Again, plan to keep this one as well for a long time.

Both are excellent cars with their own personalities.

I followed the early development of the S197 very closely and always knew I would have one eventually. I didn't get to drive one until 2008 when I drove a Bullitt and then I knew I really needed one. I finally got this 2007 GT three years ago and love it.

I think the s197 Mustang brought the pony car/muscle car wars back and we all should be grateful to Ford for seeing it through. And the new 5.0 motor is awesome (though I still prefer the styling of the 2005 to 2009 cars).

I really think the S197 are a modern day classic. I recently bought S197Mustang.com and started building it out a bit.

So I looked to see ..... I love the later SN95s ..... the tail lights made them IMHO. Been noticing a 40th GT locally ..... looking for a sign.

Pretty nice pictorial study!

Thanks.

I think the S197 really captured the classic, widely recognized Mustang style with the right amount of modern influence and performance from the factory! The early S197s are my favorite and I love the 1,000s of performance upgrades readily available!

Here's a pic of my modern classic along side a true classic at a car show last fall. If both were red, it would've been perfect, but you can still see the shared styling!

Still got my 2005 GT. Build completion date June 2005 and delivered July 2005. Picked up this brand spanking new pony on July 11, 2005.

My GT today 86800+ miles later.

Whenever I drive it, it always brings back memories of my Grandpa's 1965 fastback 2+2.

Brought her home 9/7/2005. She has 136,000 very fun miles on her now and still going strong.

The minute I saw it in 05 I knew I wanted one. Couldn't buy it at the time and glad I didn't because I never buy a first year. Many things came and went but in 09 I got it before they went out of production (or moved on to the other less attractive incarnations lets say). I had a choice between getting a new 09 or a new 10 back in 09 since they were both available. It's obvious which choice I made. Still very happy and not even remotely interested in the new ones. The 15's are good looking cars mind you but not for me.

Stable

White 1965 coupe with a 200 inch 6 banger and a 3 speed, White 1969 Mach I with a 351 and an automatic, blue 1987 GT with a five speed and finally the best. Red 2008 GT rag top with a five speed. Ford has finally got it right. These are the ones I have owned.

ya know mine will be 10 soon and I was thinking about this thread while I was turning some corners yesterday. It just brought a smile to my face at how smoothly it turned in and out and how I still like this car a lot. No plans for a new one.

I hear that brother! 10 years old this August (actually, build date was July 13, 2005), and like you, NO plans to get a new one!

Was the last S197 sold or auctioned off? I am curious to know where that car is. If Ford did not keep it, that car will be worth some money someday.

maybe the first one would be worth something. Dunno about the last one. No one ever seems to car about the last one.

I remember being blown away with the styling of the 2005 when it came out. Then as other retro styled cars came out like the Camaro and Challenger and then the 2010 Mustang, the 05-09 styling kind of got left in the dust. That's usually how things go...the innovator has its initial glory, then is slowly replaced by competition based off that innovation. I do still like how the 05-09 has an almost bare bones simplicity to it. A Black GT without a spoiler just looks really good to me. Simple and clean like a notch fox body.

I am seen the, "last of" go for big cash. I think the first S197 Ford still has.
