RUST

HELLO, yesterday i replaced my shaker 1000 headunit and i found some rust on the back of the unit and also inside, where the unit is located . i ll share some pics with you .. Is that something that i should be worried about ? whats the reason for that? is normal?
my car is 2008 mustang gt, 27k miles, one oner before me.

Thats the dash where the head unit goes in I would guess. I don't think its a concern, at least not from what I have seen before. I had some parts in both my 2006 and 2007 inside the dash that looked like that. Some times like the rear axle, rust will build up on the surface but not eat through the metal. I remember a VERY old thread discussing this about the rear axles when the S197 first came out.

Yeah that doesn't look too bad but I might be a little concerned. Either you live in a very humid environment or you have water leaking in.

Surface rust can help as a barrier to preventing more rust under the right circumstances but in most cases doesn't. A fine smooth layer of rust is OK in a dry environment but when you get into the rougher flaky kind of rust it is a bad thing and offers no protection from further corrosion.

and to clean the surface and use some antirust paint will work enough ?
rear axle looks the same. actually it doesnt look like a lot of. looks like a thin layer.

But the issue might be getting it on both sides of that panel.

I'm sort of the opinion that it isn't anything to worry 'bout, but I'd check it later on just to be sure.
