Remove Windshield Dots?
leave the **** dots alone!!!
I wish I wouldve seen this sooner I wouldve saved you the time, there is absolutely no way to remove them....at least without damaging the glass.
if you want to try to make something stick better take some very fine (2000 grit) sandpaper and wet sand them a bit. I do this to help tint stick to them, gets them real flat so bubbles wont appear
but as far as lider/radar detectors and jammers (especially with jammers) they are actually best located in the front bumper where the cops will target the car because there is suppose to be a front plate there. propper install of a jammer would be completely hidden as close to center on the bumper as possible

For the record, there are cars which have electronic 'defroster' like material on the front windshield, their main function is to provide a warm surface to melt ice from windshiled wipers and are located near the bottom of the glass. So, his comment isn't purely out of left field.
Remember the lauded heated windshields on older taurus/continentals? The whole windshield was tinted copper, ugh. Subies and Volvos do have nice little element pads in the lower windshield to heat the wiper blades though...The dots are just that, dots. That and the black bands are used for glare, styling, and hiding all the gobbledygook that glues the glass in place.
I mounted my V1 above the mirror directly in front of the dots and I haven't noticed any problem with range. It *may* be reducing range but the detector works so well that it's inconsequential in my option. Mounting it high helps range (front and rear) and keeps it out of the eyes of thieves. I used a piece of velcro on the bottom of the detector and top of the mirror, as well as a small piece on the glass "dots" to keep it secure, then I ran the power cord under the trim to the fuse box - no cords showing, so it makes for a nice stealthy install which is what I was looking for. I like the mounts that adhere to the under side of the mirror mount but I just didn't feel comfortable dangling a $399 carrot from the windshield that might entice someone to break my window or cut the top! I also added the Valentine remote display under the guage cluster (above the steering wheel) so no one sees any lights from the detector when it goes off. I posted pics and instructions a while back - just do a search if you're interested.
