This is all rather unencouraging to me.
Its the sort of thing I was concerned about, going from Honda to Ford. My Acura's paint job is immaculate, 3 years later. I hope my 06 doesnt have paint issues when it comes in. If it does Im not buying it.

Yeah, I have a paint flaw too. It cracked in this one area where it looks like they patched the paint. It's about an inch long. I'll get it fixed in a few weeks.....

You lost me on this one. How does orange peel fade out after a year? Paint is already cured. My 97 GT had orange peel on the trunk lid. 5 years later, still had orange peel.
Well most I have seen that have been waxed often wear some of the orange peel off of them. My dads 98 f150, his 2000 f150, my 2000 mustang gt, his 2003 f150 all looked pretty bad to start with and then after about a year seems like the clearcoat wore down a little and smoothed out. Now given we used a claybar on these also .

Same here, I have two very small black particles under the clear coat. I only see them when washing. One on the hood and one on the rear deck. They are about the size of a period on a printed page. Other than that, the quality of the paint job is really nice, you have to look really close at the right angles to notice any orange peel effect at all.
Jeff

I had a similar black particle on my hood and my dealer wanted to repaint. I took it home and after much careful rubbing with a clay bar it was gone. Might be worth a try.

No paint issues here... it was in great shape. Clay barred and Zaino'd, and looks perfect.

I think I've looked at every inch of the paint, and I've only found two spects of dust in the clearcoat, and two lines on the bumper that look like cracks, but are not, and only show in certain light. Orange peel is not bad at all compaired with other cars.

I've had road damage repaired on the drivers door, but the repair can only be seen from below. I can't complain, it was cheap, and unless you lay down beside the car, you can't see it.

Wax will not wear paint down, however, polish will. If you polish the car, then yes, that will have an effect on the orange peel but wax and claybar shouldn't even touch it.

I have seen the orange peel on cars on lots and I would not be happy about that and would not personally purchase any vehicle with heavy orange peel.

As for ours, I am fairly happy with its paint. A few clear drips and a few particals in the rear deck lid.

paint job is poor on the mustang, chips easily. No where near as durable as the paint on my 05 dodge durango and my previous 03 jeep liberty

You would have thought with a completely redesigned car in a new plant there wouldn't be this many paint complaints. The SN95 had the worst paint of any Ford vehicle according to BON. I'll be honest and say the paint on the Hondas I've owned over the past few years also have painted over particles in the the finish as well. Ford could do a lot better.

I had red paint spots under the clearcoat of my lime bumper. Had the body shop at the dealership repaint the bumper and it looks perfect. No other complaints about the paint.

I have notice that mine has chipped on the hood. Probably more to do with the steep angle of attack than the paint.

I have also nottice the orange peel as well.

I will not say that I am dissatisfied with this car in any way shape form or fassion. I am still lovin it. 6000 miles and counting.
