Isn't gouging one of the reasons why the Thunderbirds sales were so dismal?

How 'come no one mentions the 1997 expedition? They got over sticker for a few months and sold at full retail for a while after.

My lease is not up till June. I'll let you first-kid-on-the-block types handle the initial recalls, limited option package availabilty and derth of aftermarket parts. Still, I can't wait to test drive one.

Its called free enterprise, vote with your dollars. If no one pays over MSRP then dealers won't do it. Its simple supply vs. demand. It doesn't mean I like it, but I won't get one until they get cheaper or find a dealer that will sell around dealer invoice.
Believe it or not, in this case, the buyers are the ones who set the market not the dealers.

Time to lock this thread, the discussion is pointless.
Ford CANNOT tell any dealer what price they have to sell any car for. It is illegal per federal law. The dealers are independent business and they can charge whatever they want (or whatever the market will bear).
If a dealer is charging over MSRP, go somewhere else or wait until supply catches up with demand.

The fact is that the vast majority of the people lined up to buy this car are indeed (like us) die hard Mustang fans. The very people who put this car and to a certain degree this COMPANY where it is today. How do they reward us for giving their latest creation a huge thumbs up? They charge OVER MSRP. I call this being ungrateful to your customer base. In all likelyhood, the die hard Mustangers (provided they have the cash) will still pay the premium however, I just don't think it bodes well for the folks that have had 4 6 or even 10 or more Mustangs through the years.

Just wait it out. These things will be going for under invoice in a year. Do you REALLY need a car RIGHT NOW? If so, you should learn from this, as you should never allow yourself to be in the position of being desperate for a car.

that is an angle i am trying to go, i have been checking out alot of the Ford truck locations that mostly focus on the trucks and no so much on cars. The dealer i am thinking of going with has only one stang ordered and is expectin it in the next week or two, but it is already sold. i gather from that, the only reason they even have n 05 is because someone ordered it from them, otherwise i don't think they would be getting any.
