So here's the deal. I'm in Southeast Michigan. Was supposed to pick up my stang yesterday. It's one of 15 allocated to Varsity Ford, the biggest (volume) dealer in Michigan. As of today's run sheets, ALL Stangs were re-scheduled to next week and are showing "shp to convoy" in the status line.

A local search of dealer inventories (by zip on FordDirect) shows that almost every dealer has one or two stangs EXCEPT for Varsity (which shows none) and one other dealer, Jack Demmer Ford (also none). So here's the rub. Demmer is the 2nd largest dealer in Michigan. Has anyone else notice this pattern (i.e. large dealers not getting cars). Has anyone seen ANY dealer with more than a handful of Stang's sitting on the lot?

Now I know the rumor mill is at full steam right now, but at this point I think it may be safe to say that something is definitely wrong. Why are none of the volume dealers (at least in this area) getting the cars? My salesman said he "heard" that the local small fries were paying extra to have their cars delivered by truck (bypassing the train), but that the volume dealers typically have them go through the rails before being loaded. Cyoda's comment in one of the shipping threads suggests this may be the case. So what is the deal? Quality control issue, back-up at the railyards? What do we know for sure?!

Any takers?

My dealer is the largest in the Pittsburgh area and shows none on inventory also. I see what you are saying.

Anything reading "SHP TO CONVOY" is probably being held for quality assurance issues. No ETA on delivery.

None of the dealers have any yet regardless of size. However, the largest dealership in the area is getting five according to the inventory search on FordDirect.com. For everyone else in the area, it shows only two.

hmmmmm. Right. So we know that they can show up in the inventory BEFORE being delivered to dealers, but I don't think anyone has noted any cases of them showing up at dealers while NOT being listed in the inventory (unless the are pre-ordered).

I'm beginning to think mat0045 may be right. Which means the volume dealers may be held up for a while, so long as they are not showing up in the inventory....

grrr!!!!

I would think that the reason big dealers are held up is because they are shipping so many of them to the dealer. Cheaper to do it all at once than 2-3 at a time.

Reportedly got it last night, but Fords inventory website says they have none.

I called the dealership but never got to speak with a person, answering system, which put me on hold for about 20 seconds before hanging up on me.

What sense does that salesman make. No Mustangs shipped to Dealers in South East Michigan are going on any train. DUH! What is he on?

Just some input. Im in Louisiana, down by New Orleans and Lamarque Ford is the biggest dealer in the state, not to mention the only motorsport dealer, and they have 3 05's right now. 2 V6 autos, and a GT manual. So, just some input. I don't really think theres any conspiracy, might be price issues, as mentioned above.

I think most of the big dealers had lot's of 04 Mustangs in stock and didn't want to get stuck with them. A small dealer by me has about 4 04's left but, a very big dealer around here (Indy) has been advertising "04 Mustangs for $13,800, with over 150 to choose from" Andy Moore Ford. Just another theory.

Welcome to the boards!

Are the 05's you refer to actually sitting on the lot, are just showing up in the inventory?

In the other forum Karpro said that if the vehicle was ordered with certain codes (1 and X being 2 I remember) they will not show up in forddirect.com inventory until a certain time period after the car is delivered (so the buyer didn't take it, I guess).
