Picking up my GT in 6 days-Problem
Hey guys,
Have any of you experienced the loose shifter **** defect on your new GT?As I expected, dealer tells me its a 'feature' rather than a defect and ensures me all his GTs are built that way. GAAAAAA!
I've seen 1 or 2 posts on the internet about this problem, and I wondered how widespread it was. Seems like a little thing but its aggravating to hear that on a premium car. The boot prevents this problem from being fixed easily, which is why they don't wanna do it.
I am getting my car in 6 days and I need leverage to get the guy to fix it with no bs (hahah..they know I want the car bad) Any suggestions on how to deal with this?
Thanks very much, from a grateful future owner.

I haven't picked it up yet: that's the kicker. The people selling me the car better take care 'o that crap.
I'm just gonna email salesman. Thanks for the info. I was sure I had never seen his before. I should also remember my skills. Hahah..Its my job getting people to do stuff....I'm too nice after work.

It's not hard to fix...My shifter was fine... I attempted to put a Hurst T-handle on only to find the angle was off :bang: (the fix is replacing the whole shifter)
Anyway, all they have to do is unclip the rectangular base to the boot and spin it around like 20Xs.

Super. Just the info I was looking for. Can I do this myself with pliers/ screwdrivers and such?

screw that your paying them for a new car let them fix it ...if they break the part they will have to replace it... if you do you will have to purchase it..

Right you are man. Called Ford of Canada this morning to ask them if crappy fitment was part of the brand new delivery condition. Also, I asked them if its was a 'design feature'.
Well, they called the dealer while I was on hold and after 45 seconds: "Um the dealer says the problem is fixed" Haha..sure. Very fast efficient service from FOC. And the dealer just learned I don't take any bs lies.
I wonder what it'll be like AFTER I get my car.

Simple fix dont even have to take the boot off of the console.. just grab the boot with one hand and turn the shifter clockwise with the other hand... That should tighten it up
And yes the boot moves freely too its not glued or anything or at least mine wasnt.

I met a Washington State Parole officer, and he told me that half of the x-cons that he consults either have been, or currently are, a car salesman. This is not to say that half of all car salesman are criminals, but half of all criminals are car salesman. Just a thought. I would suggest that you find another dealership.
