P0022 Code; lots of troubeshooting, no changes - What's next?

I'm looking for help trouble shooting...

I have an 05 GT, manual. Randomly about a year ago, it started to shudder in idle. I could clear the shudder by reving the gas over 3,000 rpm and it would go back to normal. This only happened at operating temps, not cold temps. I have started getting the P0022 code This is only Bank 2 (driver side) and never the passenger side.

I've tried a few things:
  • Ran Sea foam
  • Ran with Mystery Oil
  • Swapped the solenoid valve left/right, and even changed the solenoid valve
  • Swapped the cam phaser sensor left/right and even changed the sensor
  • Changed the lifters and rollers
  • Changed the cam phaser
  • Changed the cams to Hot Rod cams while I was in the engine
  • I checked the oil pressure with a real gauge
    • Have about 40 at warm idle
    • have about 70-80 under load
    • when the issue happens the pressure jumps around 30-35 at idle
  • Changed spark plugs and coils
After all this work over time, nothing has changed. I'm still getting the same code and having the same issues. I don't know what to check next or what other aspects to look at as possible problems.

The best way to describe the feeling is if you are driving in too high of gear (lugging the engine). Rev the engine a bit and clear it, then it feels normal. Drive normally for a short bit and let the clutch out or go back to idle and it will happen again. It does not happen 100% of the time, but does happen most times after the car gets to operating temperature.

Just curious, as I didn't see these... Did you swap out the chain and the tensionser and guides? I mean, you're right there during all that...

Otherwise, you're looking at maybe a wiring issue and/or computer issue, all other things being considered as good and right up there, seems to me. The intermittent issue would indicate a rubbing somewhere, possibly. I can't think of anything else beyond the channel on the left side number 1 (front) cam cap not being cleaned out...

Very odd. Hope that helps maybe, but it might need a better diagnostic than mine.

I did not remove the front cover, only the top covers for the cam area. So I did not change the tensioners or guides. If I do end up in that area, I will change the oil pump too just to make sure.

I'm sure it is something stupid and obvious, no matter what it is.

I know it’s been some time but did ya get it figured out. I’d put a few dollars on it being the came chain guide on that side. Had a similar issue but with the 5.4 funny thing is this was the middle of last yr right before you posted
I just pulled mine apart looking for a bad guide but found a loose phaser bolt. Would definitely recommend changing it an getting it tuned especially with cams
