Well after much pondering and thinking about it I have decided to not get the 05 stang. I know after seeing it I will probably kick myself about 100 x's. I have stumbled upon something else tho which I think will excite me just as much as the 05. A bit less expensive up front and not quite as much hp but should be a blast to drive. The hard part is going to be waiting until I can pick the darn thing up. Oh yea I almost forgot i'm getting a 65 coupe

Well, I can certainly understand where you're coming from with the love of the classics. I want an 05, but I don't know how I'll afford one. Selling the fastback is NOT an option though. Will it be your daily driver? Got pics?

Oh yeah, and one more question: Do you know kung fu?

I was originally planning on getting a 67-69, but when I saw the new one, I just couldn't help but want it, as it is styled after the very cars I was looking for, plus all the new fun technology.

I mean, it will be the first time I've ever owned a Mustang that handled decently (see my sig).

Oh, and BTW, 3 years Tai Chi here.

I know where you're coming from. My "better half" is grumbling about getting rid of the '71 Mach 1 if I bring an '05 home so I might have to wait a year and get an '06. Even then it's a "Maybe" cause selling the '71 is NOT an option! Hmmm... does anyone know of a dealer that will take a spouse in on trade? jk!!! LOL!

A Classic is like a savings account you hope you never have to use, they are money in the bank. I would never sell a classic to buy a new one. If you have to sell your classic to get a new car wait until you can keep both.

I agree, I deeply regret everyday getting rid of my first car a 1966 Mustang coupe. It was all original. Pony Rims, Pony Interior etc....

gonna pick up the stang hopefully on Wed. And trust me I will post some pics over in the classic section on the forums. I can't wait. It's not gonna be a daily driver I have my VW still which I will use for everyday use. Oh BTW I do not know KungFu. It's a nickname a guy from one of my favorite bands used for his name on an album.

One week after my Uncle sold his beloved 65, one week, the new owner totaled it. That's heartbreak...

You can't go wrong with a classic. I absoulutley love my 66. If I had to choose between it and the 05, I would keep the 66. Fortunatley, My wife of 24 years is letting me have both. She's wonderful. Neither one is/will be a daily driver. I have a Chevy for beatin on. Congrats and enjoy.

I always hear stories of people selling their classic and regretting it. I can't imagine owning a classic, much less getting rid of one.

You can't go wrong with a classic! Even if you have to invest some money in it, you will get it back- either in enjoyment or when you go to sell it.

Yep, very true, I still hate myself for getting rid of my '72.

nothing beats a classic if you can restore it at which I can't because I don't have the facility and the patience to do that even though it would be fun. The classic I would want at full restoration would be either a Eleanor Shelby or a 69 Mach 1 and both of those are way more expensive then the 05 GT. the classic that you are getting sounds sweet have fun cruzing in it

Eleanor is just a regular 67-68 fastback with a few thousand dollars of fiberglass thrown at it. They don't have to cost $100K+ like the Unique Performance version. And a 2005 starts at 25K right? There are 69 Mach 1's all over the place for less than that. Heck, if you like the look of a Mach, but don't care if it is an original mach 1, a regular V8 sportsroof can be had for even cheaper.

I'm not sure how much some of you guys think classics cost, but unless it's a show car or really rare, they aren't that bad at all.

The lucky guy that I'm buying my car from has a mint red 65 fastback with American racing Torq Thrust wheels on it, and is in the process of restoring an Aculpulco Blue 69 Mach 1 I've never seen a garage as big or have as many mustangs as this guy. He also has a 96 Cobra in the garage. Man O' man thats a pretty nice garage if ya ask me. No wonder he sold me the 65

I sold my 73 Mach-1 and honestly, it doesn't bother me. I remember reading an article in one of the major auto rags about a guy who couldn't bring himself to sell his classic (a Lotus I believe) as it was too beautiful to part with. A friend commented "wont the car be just as beautiful when somebody else owns it" and he thought "Yeah, I guess it will".

Kinda corny, but I read that not long before I sold my Mach-1 and it made me think. There will almost cetainly be other classic Mustangs in my life. Hopefully, models I want even more than I wanted that Mach-1.
