Ok, so what is meant by remanufactured facia?

Generally I know what remanufactured means, but how on earth does that apply to facia?? Is it damaged and glued together or remolded??
Thanks,
Mark

Most of your bodyshops now use remanufactured bumper covers or fascias to not only cut costs but recycled covers same everyone money and materials in the long run.

We know that.
The question was...
How are they re-manufactured, not why.

In response to your post, karman, there is fiberglass matting, filler, flex agents, and materials used to adhere to the cover and make or remake the contours and seams just like new. Most of this is done in an assembly line fashion in a reman center.

Usually they're damaged OEM covers from car accidents, etc. They're normally fine and the only repair marks you can see are on the inside of the cover. The only thing to stay away from is if they have a built in 'black textured' section, etc, as those normally are much more noticable.

Thanks, that assures me it is something I never want.

Me neither, recently turned down a rear bumper when my GT was hit. I was able to get her insurance to write me a check and got a GT/CS bumper for the rear. When I hit in my Lightning, I had swapped front ends with a 2003 Harley, same deal with insurance. I was able to get a new one, less the $1200.00 price tag and still kept the damaged valance and sold it on ebay.

Thanks for your replies eveybody. So then a reman. facia, once painted and installed would look the same as a new part. Yes, the prices are definitely good, I just wasn't sure if there were any issues with those types of parts after a few years (splitting or cracking at the repair site, etc.)

I was thinking about purchasing a remanufactured facia but didn't want to get something that looked like it had been repaired in a couple of years....at least on the outside.

It shouldn't. Most insurance companies will guarantee their repair for the life of the vehicle, and these are the parts that they use. When you say facia, exactly what part are you talking about... the bumper cover I assume? The good thing about a reman vs aftermarket cover, is you're much less likely to have fitment issues.

Sorry about that. Yes, it's the front facia, actually a GT500 to be exact. I can get a really good price on it, about 1/2 of a new one. That would leave just the other parts for the conversion that I would like to do.
Thanks again.
