???? ... ?? .... uuhhhhh.... hmmm.. PERSONALLY. I found that the high end Expensive spark plugs just fail more often. No tests and whatever done by me. You would probably need to replace the whole firing system to generate a better spark but then you only need that if you have increased your fuel injection dramatically. Just buy a reliable spark plug. Thats what im doing. But I too am interested in others opinions.

In the old days plug quality and heat range had a lot to do with performance. Not so today. The spark timing, duration, and frequency is computer controlled. Adding more spark will not add any performance. replace your plugs at 100K. If you really want to enhance performanbce, add a supercharger and tuned headers. You will see all kinds of claims for special plugs and bigger wires but it is not worth the expense.

My 2 cents.

You shouldn't worry about your sparkplugs unless you are supercharged or using nitrous.

As stated, plug technology is less of a factor today as the car controls most of process. You do need different plugs ("cooler") with S/C applications of high boost.

The concept of "indexing" your plugs is probably more viable, yet never practiced. The desing of the head has a "squish" pattern and the orientation (i.e. indexing) of the plugs has given me up to 5 H.P. in other vehicles. The "finger" that extends from the plug tip must be open to the area of "squish" and thus the spark is unblocked to the fuel mixture.

As for my S197s, I have not done anything with the plugs. I don't believe there will be a significant or even noticeable change in power. If there were to be any findings, I'm out there with a socket wrench!
