Good day folks, long time reader, first post.
I would like to start off by saying what a premium site this is and I have checked them all out. This is THE most informative site out there, everyone is so helpful.
I have never been a big Ford guy but I could not ignore the new Mustang, there is nothing else like it on the market! So after doing much research on this site I had decided to order an 06 GT. However a local dealer has a used 05 GT which can be had for about 30 grand (Canadian) although this car does not have the IUP or sport pkg (leather wheel and ****) it does have leather seats. The mileage is 10,000 kms sonic blue.I have checked this car out, have driven it and it is flawless. But I had my mind set on an 06 with the 18 inch wheels IUP etc.. But this 05 could save me a lot of dough!! Any opinions?? Im not afraid to buy a used stang but new ones smell better and wont have a brutal plastic strg wheel hahaha!

On a side note....
I am currently employed as a collision shop manager so any body shop type questions send them my way and Ill try to help.

Another side note....
I may not be in the collision industry much longer as i a currently in discussions with a local world renowned performance shop that do sell a complete line of Mustang performance parts.Stay tuned for premium specials for The Mustang Source members! (hopefully)

Thanks dudes

Nags

Well, the difference between the 05's and 06's 'Stangs are pretty minimal: Tire Pressure Monitor, optional 18's and two new colors (Tungsten and Vista Blue).
Therefore it really comes down to personal liking...if you want to save a few bucks, get the 05...if you prefer getting the latest model, go for the 06...
Either way, you get a gorgeous car: you can't lose !

If you go Used you'll have $10k to mod it?
10 km on a car, it's just broken in, but a fair number of
the Mustang owners who trade off their Vehicles
have driven them like they stole them.

An 06, you get everything you want on it, Brand New,
and get to enjoy the Mustang Wait. ( 5 Months for me )

Either way you will enjoy your Mustang immensely.

Nagman, welcome to the boards!

Decision depends on your patience level, really. Want it now, or willing to wait for exact setup and color you want? They're holding their value well one year out, so the money difference is not all that great.

Strictly from a money standpoint, the '05 is a good call if she checks out mechanically.

WELCOME. I say if you want one of the new colors, IUP and those fan blades then get the 06. Other wise save the cash on the 05 for aftermarket fan blades and other mods, just makes more sense.

Hey Nagman, welcome to TMS . Like the others said, you can't go wrong with either, but if you really eant the car to be "your own" with your options, I say order a 2006. Again, you can't go wrong with either.

If you plan to sell the car after 5-10 years, then I'd get the used one just because the wait is terribly brutal (and I've only been waiting ~2 months). If you are planning to keep the car 'forever', hold out and get exactly what you want. That's my take anyway.

I'd have to have "IUP!" There are a lot of things to like about this car but "IUP" will help it hold it's value down the road! My kids call it the "BLING factor!"

To each their own. Personally, I would like to have 18" wheels, but I don't care for the "fan blades." They look just like the GTO wheels. I wish they would make 18" Bullitts. I got the machined wheels and have always regretted it. But as soon as I need new tires, I'm going to get some 18" Torq Thrust IIs or a set of polished aluminum Bulliitts.

Curious about the price. Bought my sonic blue brand new. All options except for the side airbags and automatic tranny. Yes, I even got the Shaker 1000 and upgraded rims. Only paid $34,500 with freight ($33,300 before all the not so fun charges). So, I hope that car can be had for #30,000 incl taxes. If not then you aren't saving that much for a used car that has 10,000 km on it, especially since it is not loaded.
