Now that winter is over

My car was bad in the snow...probably driver error. I got stuck in not even an inch of snow. I drove around the rest of the winter with about 100 pounds of concrete blocks in the trunk. I was scared but never got stuck again.

Drove though the entire winter....and we got a decent amounts of snow at times.
However, you NEED good snow tires. I bought Blizzaks. They are a bit more expensive but they were awesome.
The car does slide around but no worse than any other RWD. And the best part.....other than being able to drive it........ no weight in the back whatsoever Generally with this car, you just have to take it easy.

Well, I don't have my '05 yet, but I do drive a '98 GT, and I think it is applicable. I live in KC and we got a decent snow (8") and an ice storm, both of which I drove in. I also have all season Z-rated tires, so while they are not max summer or anything, they are a long way from snow tires. I don't think it is any worse than any other RWD car. I mean, I slide around a little, and I have gone up hills sideways, but as long as I take it slow, I never feel the fear of losing control. I would be more scared to ride with someone doing 45 mph on ice in an 4WD SUV b/c they think thay can't slide than with someone doing 20 in a GT. I have to imagine with traction control, the 05s will handle even better than mine.

Worst day ever was when it snowed and I didn't put my snow tires on. Car handles great with proper tires. I sold the Pirelli's (absolute joke in the snow). I use Michellin X-Ice in the winter and my BFG's in the summer.

I didn't have any trouble at all in the ice and snow we get here in Kentucky but I put on a set of Dunlop snow tires. I didn't put any weight in the trunk. I grew up in the Pittsburgh area and learned how to handle a RWD in the snow so I was pretty comfortable with the Stang. She did real well compared to the wife's 04 GT. I loaded the trunk up with 80 pounds of sand for her and she still got stuck twice. The 05 had to come to here rescue.

We get snowstorms over 12" regularly and at times 20" plus. In that stuff most vehicles dont go well. For those of you that dont get any or havent seen it before let me know and Ill UPS you a load of snow next winter

I drove all winter on the stock Pirellis... The only problems I had were trying to accelerate while on an incline. I usually just stepped on the clutch while making turns so as to not break the tires loose.

I drove mine through the Ohio winter, no problems. This new model is much better than the older ones were. With traction control and ABS, it's hard to get into much trouble (even with the stock Pirellis)
