Just heard on a local radio station (101.1 WRIF) in Detroit, MI that there will be no redone mustang for at least another 5 years. The DJ said that Ford 'was so confident in their design of the new muscle car that they did not feel the need for a redesign for another 5 years'

What is meant by this is that there is no major exterior or chassis facelifts. There are still going to be minor facelifts, and the SVT and S/E cars as planned.

The forecasted timeframe for a major facelift (new exterior metal), complete new interior, and possible chassis revisions is tenatively scheduled for 2011 model year.

That has been the trend with the SN95 Mustang

94-98 was first one, lasted 5 model years
99-04 lasted 6 Model years

They can do enough small changes to keep the car fresh, things like grille, mirrors, wheels, different spoilers can be changed every year at a small cost.

Nothing surprising....
5 years is alright.

I'm sure if need be...they can always change minor things. But the overall car will be good enough to keep for multiple years

5 years at least! As Galaxie pointed out, 5 or 6 years is the norm.

Even if the new gen turns out not to be a hit, Ford can't just change the body/interior whenever they want.

5 years is perfect for me, then depending on the look of its replacement it may be time for a trade in. I think the ones being released right now should have something next years model will not have since it is the 40th anniversary.

Yeah.....5 years is about what it takes to pay it off. They think about this in Detroit you can be sure of that!
