One more thing. The guys like "us" are the ones who drive ultimately how much horsepower everything else makes ( in the line up). Think about this on a very deep level.

I am willing to pay for performance.

A new, stiffer ( is that a word) chassis, a 100 hp per liter motivator (underrated of course, somebody is going to figure this out) leap in interior quality, a car built by guys that care what they are screwing together, is what I want. I want an hiney kicking alternative to all that is Japanese, German, and GM in that order. Did I forget anyone? We have toiled forever pushing these FORDS to the LIMIT, which I LOVE, before I would dirve anything else. We always will. We EXIST, and we want it NOW.

Can I hear an Amen?

COBRA
Amen, brutha, Amen.

Hey all,

First post; a little background:

Missed the muscle car fun in the late 60's/early 70's. After schooling and working(and a little hard
playing) finally was in the market for a summer vehicle in 2002. Heard about the Mach1 and placed an order for the 2003 model. Then heard about the new style and the throwback to the '68/'69 styling and decided to hold off hoping they'd carry the Mach1 through. Many times I wondered if I made the right choice, really wanted that shaker hood!

Anyhow, here's this thread and the possibility of a SE earlier in the production run. A mach would be sweet but some threads also raised the possibility of a ragtop SE, which would make my wife a very happy camper since she prefers convertibles.

So, my question: what make/model SE would include a ragtop config.? Mach's were always coupes yes?

Thanks for the read,
FM

Yes, speculation. I was just interested in what SE would include a ragtop. The ones that I know of: Mach, Boss: were both coupes.

If I was going to bet on a special edition for spring I would say look for the stripes and maybe the 18 wheels and maybe a special color, like the BF Goodrich car Titanium, not a production color, so why are they showing this color makes you think, alot of people like that car and it would be easy to build for a special edition without sacrifing quality of the other cars.

If that is all they do and there is no performance gain in an SE, why would anyone buy it?

The only SE models besides the base and GTs that were verts back in the days (60's) were the Shelby GTs. Machs, Bosses, were all hardtops. I don't think the Cobras had a vert until '94-'95. Verts and massive HP really don't go well with insurance companies ('03-'04 Cobra Verts). I do want a 400hp Vert though. 300hp sounds good, 350hp sounds better, but 400hp sounds awesome. Anything over 400-425hp should not be offered in a Vert due to safety concerns. But then again, if you crash at 100+ mph, I don't think it really matters if you're in a Vert or not.

Look at the Spring Editions (SEs) in 99 or 2000? They were appearance only and people bought those. Think about it...if you are going out to buy a new Mustang GT and you want it now, will you take one everyone else has or one that is offerred in a special color with special appearance options?

Obviously, with the exception of those who want sleepers, fans would want something more special if it was available and they had the money. But, I suspect that there will be more than a few 05 Stangs getting special paint and accessories in the aftermarket so that they will be unique. (Something like a 2000 Roush Stang, I suspect. ) In my case, I would be more tempted to go for a SE if it had a performance upgrade instead of just cosmetics. B)
