Please let us NOT have another Chicago incident come early Nov. Cool heads everyone. I believe the gt version will be a very nice car for most.

I dont think mach 1 sales would hurt GT sales really because they are limited production models, and some people are not willing to pay the extra cash to go mach or cobra it all about what someone will pay for the car.

With the SN95, they dropped a Bullit in 01, and the Mach 1 in 03-04. Other than the Cobra there were no SEs during the 99-04's run.
It just sounds better from a business aspect to say:
2005: NEW v6 and GT models
2006: v6 and GT models and RE-introduding the Mach 1
2007: v6, GT, and Mach 1....presenting the new Cobra
Rather than:
2005: NEW v6, GT, and Mach 1(as a midyear model)
2006: v6, GT, and Mach 1
2007: v6, GT, Mach 1.....presenting the new Cobra
------------------------------------------------------------
Of course I'd love to be wrong on this issue.

2000 - Spring Feature Edition
2003 - Centennial Edition
Despite being "cosmetic-only", we had a pretty full range of models for almost every year of the '99-'04 run when you include the Bullitt and Mach 1.

We got rumor of a "variant" being revealed at Chicago auto show last year. We all watched endlessly. No variant was revealed.

I don't know why this is big news for you people. We've known for at least 2 months now that an SE was going to be out in March?

This is also the first time we've been told it might be a major SE (or at least one with a power boost) as opposed to just a cosmetic package.

When I talked to a mule driver he said wait the best was yet to come but who wants to wait. I want to see my options all at once and see what I am going to buy, I would like to buy one car, not one to trade for another been there done that.

What was the Chicago incident?
This is a good example of the internet run amok. Ford NEVER said anything about any special Mustang being at Chicago. If I remember right the whole deal started with someone posting on BON that he worked for the show and Ford was going to have a special Mustang there. After that post speculation went completely wild with absolutely NO factual information to back it up.
The whole deal amost repeated with the Minneapolis show a few weeks later.

This is my point exactly!!! Someone, or several people, post on this site or others that "they know something about a upcoming SE that we do not because of blah blah blah..." Well Ford has not said anything about SE's coming out next year. I would love to be wrong but I DO NOT believe it until I see it. Religious faith does not apply here. I think we all should be happy that we are getting a brand new stang w/ 300hp. For those who want to wait for the next Cobra in '06 or '07 I am sure it will be well worth it, but at a BMW price $$$. That I believe because they are aiming for BMW quality on the next Cobra (mustang). The added cost of the car plus insurance I can get a new stang GT for my daily drive, plus a classic for the weekend drives and insure both. This of course is my opinion and not fact at this point.

The "Chicago Incident" started because the Chicago Autoshow website stated that a new version of the Mustang was going to be unveiled.
The current s/e rumurs are because of either members of this board talking to ford reps, or hearsay. In either case, whe the Mustang development team makes it up to Canada in late July, I will definitely quiz them to see if their answers jive.

Since I was the one who orginally started this post I just want to make a few things clear. 1)This what heard from a guy I'm not saying its 100 percent or even 1 percent truth just what I heard. 2) This is also not the first time I have heard this info actually its the third and they were from different sources each time it just happens to be the first time I posted it. 3) As far as Ford's marketing plans and logic they never make sense so they could up and decide to not even make Mustang in 2006(not that the wouldbe that stupid but with some their past poor decisions all is possible). So I'm glad that we at least have a more powerful GT for 05 and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an SE variant(Mach1 with 330+Hp w/ a ragtop as option
) as soon as possible so I can decide what to buy. But my reason for this last post is to try and avoid a "Chicago incident." But now I have a question for everone "What SE model would you like to see and what features would it have?" So on that note everyone take care and have a wonderful 4th of July.

Thanks Jay for clearing it up. It's just that we have heard this before and I believe Ford will let us know when they want to let us know. I am just not buying it at this time. NOTHING personal at all towards you or anyone else. It is just speculation at this point.
Anyways, I would love the following in order of importance TO ME:
Shelby GT 350 in lime green
Boss 302 in orange or yellow
Mach 1 in red or blue
GT w/ Hi/Po engine
GT
Features include IRS and comfort weave seats
Enjoy the fireworks as well!

500 hp SVT Cobra Mustang
350-375 hp Shelby NA 5.4
Boss IRS, light weight NA 5.4 (these 2 basically same car, diff name)
GT-R (toned down street version) slight hp upgrade, tasteful appearance
Mach 1 (nothing against it, but, it has been done, let it be special)
IT would be nice (but, not likely) to see 200, 300, 400, 500hp lineup.

I would love to see a shelby or a new mach, or even a new boss... but I think the best s/e I could hope to see sometime, and I will wait for, is the Cobra R. Never heard if there are even plans for one, but I hope so. The last cobra R was the way a car should be built. No Radio, No insulation, no back seat, and if I remember correctly, no A/C. A purpose built race car. the way it should be.
