That's about what I am getting without any freeway driving. I also live and work in about a 3 mile radius.

So a lot of people are getting 12.5-13.5MPG .... Stupid Window Sticker Ratings... So how are people out there getting 20-28MPG in mixed driving, and I know most of you guys have a lead foot.

Actually I drive pretty good coasting in neutral quite often! Normally when I put gas and do the caculations I am getting around 16 MPG. Last time mostly highway driving I got 20 MPG, remember it's a V8..... You have to pay the cost to be the Boss

Someone's grandmother is driving it for the MPG standards. You have to remember this is the USA, home of the horsesh*t, land of the liar. Look at how many meds people take they then find out cause cancer, heart attacks, strokes, and this is after FDA approval. I know it has been said many times and it sucks to hear but drive your car and enjoy it. Summer has just begun and is short.

probably because they assume city driving is more stop-and-go at regular intervals than the traffic that most of us experience in larger cities. like i posted earlier, my 'computer' showed just under 7mpg when driving in morning rush hour traffic (malfunction junction to howard frankland). in town, driving to the grocery store etc..., it showed in the mid teens (or more like the sticker says)

Your not going to get that kind of MPG and if you do it will not be very often. Right now I am at about half a tank with 96 miles on the OD. This is strictly short drives back and forth to work, which is a round trip of 6 miles or so.

i have no idea, however the one time i spent some time in the tampa area (just going out on a limb and guessing your near the city) and the driving done near there was no where close to what i am calling mixed driving. i am on highways that have traffic lights every couple miles, and almost never sit in any type of city traffic. so i think i am close to mixed driving without it being some highway some middle city. no traffic jambs.

so i am lucky. i have a feeling if i lived in the tampa area i would not return much better than you although mine is manual

Did you overfill the tank?

If not, perhaps there is a leak in your fuel system, in which case you have something to demonstrate to the dealer now.

No overflow on the tank....It was while I had a quarter of the tank left. Smelled it this morning for the second time.....called the dealership and they told me they would not be able to fit me in until next tuesday...I guess fuel leaking out isnt that great of an importance!!!.... Never dealing with Brandon Ford ever again...and reporting them to the BBB!!!!

Some peeps love Brandon Ford. Personally, I didn't have a good time when I tried to deal with them. I had heard some negative things before I actually went there to deal on a car so that may have persuaded my opinion prior to even attempting a purchase there. Once I got there I just got the feeling that they were cocky and shady. After all, the trade in they allowed on my truck was WAY low. When I did trade my truck in, a year later, I got 20% more than Brandon Ford offered.

BTW, I drove to Lakeland to purchase my ride as I didn't like the Walker Ford selection at the time and I really can't stand Freedom Ford.

The service manager told me when I went to schedual for my next service...that if I were to bring it in for service due to poor MPG, I would have to pay because he can not use his techs for warantee work on my car for poor fuel issues unless I were to pay for it (my car has 6500miles on it, only owned for month and a half and had the problem since day one). Then he goes to tell me I can not bring it in on Today or tomorrow because he can not give me a loner car over the weekend because he might not get to my car until next tuesday if I were to drop it off....so I must wait even though I smell fuel. So it is better for me to drive it around instead of itbeing there. I will do everything in my power to make sure no one I know ever goes to this place for a car again!

Your experiment on the interstate definitely shows there is something wrong. 15mpg is not right...something is wrong for sure.

I think I'd have to try to go over that ***holes head. That's rediculous, making you pay for service that should be covered under warranty. I believe I'd have to threaten to go to higher levels. This could turn into some bad press, if you know what I getting at. We had a problem with the paint coming off on my father's Mercury Mountaineer. It's a 2005, with about 40k miles, and the paint was just completely off on the roof where the rain channels are. He took it down there, and we told the guy "Ford will fix this, whether it's you guys, or if its someone of higher power." With a grim look on his face, he took the keys and said "Itll be ready on Wednesday."

Not to play Devils Advocate but 80-85mph, is not going to help you conserve fuel in any vehicle.

15-16 sounds about right for 80mph You need to drive about 59 in 5th to get the best mileage, as long as you don't fall asleep and crash from boredom. Maybe the dealer scheduled the appt next week so they could have a vacation.
